well God bless America!!!!!!!!!!!! that's the clean version of what i really want to say. It's been 5 years now that my car has been stranding me beside the road and refusing to start after it rains. numerous mechanics have looked it over with no idea what its deal is. it never throws a code. fancy computers cant find a problem with it. i thought i would go back with the factory air box so as to shut up all the people who say it was the problem...guess what. it didn't fix a thing just as i suspected!
why am i the only one with this problem? it makes no sense guys. every time this happens i get so mad i put it up for sale but no one wants the #@!%^&$#@! when i put it for sale no one ever even makes an offer or anything. i will always love the aurora but........ forget it
no one here ever has any suggestions either. so i have replaced coils twice, plugs twice, FPR twice, ICM once, crank & cam sensors twice, wires once, fuel filter six times, & had misc. work performed like TB service but nothing changes. i can drive the car through the heaviest downpour all day long but it refuses to start in rain. this is the dumbest thing ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, you are driving along and it just stalls when it's raining? Or it's parked over night and won't start? Or both? When it does not start does it crank normally and just not start? Are there any current or pending DTCs? If so what are they? What after market accessories are installed(I know you have 'performance module) anything else?
The only thing I can think of is the moisture is getting effecting ignition components. Finding it's way under plug wire boots, etc. Or the plug wires are arcing because of worn out insulation.
Also you previously had a P0322. Did you ever fix or find the reason for that issue? Because without the 4x reference pulses the vehicle will start but crank times can extend to as much as 45 seconds.
Need more info to make more suggestions.

Sorry I don't have any suggestions man, it's just way over my head. I hear you talk about it all the time tho haha. If Randy can't figure it out by looking at it then I doubt many of us can.
I bet that inake would fix it, just run it around the engine a couple more times. ;D

no sall, it runs in the rain just fine, it just won't start if its been raining. yes i got those problems fixed and thought i would not experience this again. but the gremlin is back, actually never went away. & that performance module doesn't effect this problem b/c i can turn it on or off with no difference. hey collins, that last sentence makes no sense at all but i believe you're talking about a few years back when i had the filter in the front bumper.

Next time it happens check for spark. Still sounds like moisture in ignition components.

check for spark like to the plugs or check for sparks like arcs? Both checks are free!

When you say it won't start, the engine is cranking, right?

Asked that too but the answer was 'just won't start'. It's not lack of suggestions, it's lack of information or too broad lol really though need lots details.

C'mon Lance don't let her beat you! Help us help you narrow it down. Is the starter cranking? Does the fuel pump prime when it won't start? Is the security light on? Does it only happen when hot, cold (sitting overnight) or engine temp doesn't matter?

i used to drive old dodge vans, funny thing about old Dodge vans the seal on the hoods used to leak on the coil, and distributor caps and not run in the ran. i fixed that by useing plug wire dielectric in all the boots, and i wraped and taped a bag around the distributor. and never had that prob again. maybe try wraping tapeing, and sealing the main harness connector? as well as the trans harness connector! can't hurt.........................................

oh my bad. the car will crank and crank it just won't catch and go. sometimes it will nearly start and then pop or backfire under the hood (not out the tail pipes) so it gets spark. one day last year i got the idea after a night of rain to take my leaf blower and blast all around the motor real good, then it actually started. the neighbors were looking at me like i was gonzo! but who wants to do that every time?

Interesting... have you thought about mounting a couple of leaf blowers *under* the hood? Anyway, the backfiring tends to indicate to me either water contaminating the fuel via the intake somehow, or water shorting out some electrical connection(s). It could be affecting an analog signal, like ECT,MAP,MAF,TPS,IAT, etc. by changing the value but not going out of range, thus not throwing a code. I'd start with a thorough inspection of all sensor connectors. Unplug each one (preferably after a good rain, when it won't start) and look for signs of moisture. Maybe you can simulate rain to isolate it with a garden hose, or even a spray bottle.

... and while you are doing that a little Di-electric grease in each connector will keep the water out for sure. I would start out with some under each plug boot on the coils and ICM connectors.

Keep us posted, Lance. I'd like to know what's been causing this!
I agree with the above; to me, it sounds like it's moisture/humidity.. plug wires in good shape?
