I have a 98 and I've been wanting to get some mufflers for a while but Idk what I want. For a while I was set on the flowmaster super 44's. But I've heard a few cars with magnaflows lately and I think I like them a little better but I don't know which muffler would be right for my car. Can anyone help me?

I don't want it to be too loud. Straight pipes are louder than what I want. And I won't pass inspection with straights :/ even though it does sound sickkk

It depends on where you are and if you have regular emissions or visual yearly inspections to make a recommendation like the ones above. Since you say mufflers though, I went with some Thrush Welded Mufflers(direct copy of Original 40 Series) after watching this vid:
Just search 'Aurora Exhaust', 'Aurora Muffler', 'Aurora Flowmaster' on youtube. Lot's of videos with different setups.

Sall I'm in new york and the cops here have nothing better to do then pull people over for having a "loud" car. and as far as inspection goes, It's a safety inspection once a year, and emissions is every 2 years

Yea stops like those lead to bigger busts for them occasionally just like illegal window tint. You should be fine with something like the 40s or the thrush knock-offs.

what i did was 2.5 in. pipe from the cat back with a single glasspack where the resonator was. i love the sound, its pretty quiet at idle, but when you hit the gas, you here it. here is a video of mine. img847.imageshack.us/img847/700/tnp.mp4

Their website says:
"Flowmaster’s Super 44 Muffler uses the same Delta Flow Technology found in our larger Super 40 mufflers. The Super 44 delivers a powerful rich tone and is the most aggressive, deepest sounding, highest performing four-inch case street muffler we’ve eve built!" So probably louder lol.

Anyone know what muffler I would need anyway? as far as size, inlet/outlet position?

After the Y it is 1 7/8" O.D. pipe and after the muffler is mesly 1 3/4 O.D. before the tip.

I've never seen anything less than 2.25"

Yeah you'll need an adapter or your local exhaust shop will know what to do if you take it there.

The exhaust sizes on these cars must be universally odd.. lol.
My car had 2.5" pipe all the way back to the Y. At the Y, it split off into 1.75" diameter pipe.

Magnaflow is much better sounding on our car than super 44's, I had super 44's originally and when I redone my car, new motor.. I took off the flowmasters and bought Magnaflows. Super 44's are very loud and have a lot of high pitch noises. Magnaflow have a deeper sound. Plus it wouldn't be nearly as loud as mine with a y exhaust and cat.

They are all built the same. I used 5x11 2.5" intlet/outlet, so it could go through a little faster. You might wanna go with a 2" inlet, or 1.75"

I'm actually considering going and having a muffler shop put on a nice Magnaflow on my car. I would like to get mine between the resonator & the Y, though..

I meant for Sall, but you could use 2 of those Magnaflows in place of the factory mufflers. Sall could use a smaller one in place of the cat with inline design.

Just to get a quick poll from those without straight pipes (im only excluding you guys because my state has inspections and i could get some flowmasters installed for about 250), who has the flowmaster (40, Super 40, 44, Super 44), Magnaflow, or the Dynomax (or Thrust Mufflers)
