It seems very intrusive, but truthfully it isn't as bad as you think. Here is my 99 from 0-65 in 8 seconds. It was raining heavily and the roads are very slick but the TCS held on perfectly. You could really feel the timing being retarded, but the pull never stopped.

That's one thing I liked about the Continental ProContact EcoPlus tires I had. I floored it from a stop on very wet asphalt and didn't get the slightest slip for traction to counter-act. True, these engines have virtually no low-end torque, but it was still impressive.

I tried my traction control in snow. It did not retard the engine at all!

It just uses the ABS pump to pulse the brakes up front to try and keep slip down; it has no connection to the engine as far as I know.

It does retard ignition timing but you have to be on it pretty hard for it to overcome the good amount of work the braking part is already doing and the surface has to be pretty slick. In the snow on an incline/hill to my driveway, I pushed my pedal all the way to the floor to test the system out. While the braking part of the T/C did it's job, I couldn't get the motor to go full power so they are indeed connected.
In my car when spinning on a slick surface or doing a burnout(I do that a lot, ask Nelson lol) it will even make the tranny upshift to second gear, if the system is engaged, until wheelspin stops then shifts BACK up to first gear once the lo traction event is over.

As for it not working in the snow, what I have noticed is that after about 25mph the TCS will disengage and allow full power to the wheels. If you're wheels are spinning faster than that, TCS doesn't seem to intrude. What I'll do tomorrow is mount my dash camera in the front fender well to see and hear exactly what is going on. I love the cam, really cheap and can mount it anywhere. Because it was so cheap I don't care if I lose it or it gets broken. Here it is under my truck. You guys will probably enjoy what happens at 2:11. Punk in a Mustang slid in behind me and tried to pass. The rest is seen in the video

Tcs does indeed work after 25mph, hit a puddle that allows it to hydroplane and you can see the traction light kick on and hear the pump working. GM cars (starting with the supercharged SSEi Bonneville started having "full range" traction control after about the 94 model year.

Absolutely awesome when it's pooring out to prevent hydroplaning. Good for snow until a certain amount of slickness and then you better have some skills, lol. I have to turn it off after an ice storm to get up this big hill at the beginning of my road. I turn it back on after that though. It will turn itself off too after so much slippage.

Goodyear Triple Treads really put it to the ground too Nothing about that made sense. You have previously stated your car can't rev out because of the factory tune, and you say you have no low end(which I can verify by watching your car launch) but your car somehow picked up 2+ seconds to 60. So you never reach your power band and still pick up an extraordinary amount of time while making less torque. On top of that, Triple Treads don't put power to the ground. They are worse than Eagle F1 Supercar tires(which are HORRIBLE). I've got a set of NT555s that hold the road better than Triple Treads and I can still get them to turn over. Your stories about the car have contradicted themselves time and time again, I just laugh and leave the page.

The other part I don't understand.. You say your cams don't have as much low end as the factory cams. I don't know if it's just me (doubtful), but my car is completely gutless up until 3,500. If you don't really hit the powerband before that, that sucksss. You just need to get your car dyno'd that way you have facts for us that we can see! We know your car is quick, but we want to see dyno graphs

If you don't really hit the powerband before that, that sucksss. You just need to get your car dyno'd that way you have facts for us that we can see! We know your car is quick, but we want to see dyno graphs I've watched all of his videos, the car is no faster than any other Aurora. If he puts it on a dyno I foresee 215hp @ 5500rpms before it reaches max revs and dies. He tried to talk smack on Youtube and challenge me to a drag race for $500 or something stupid I have NO problem taking him up. If everything he claims is true I'll kill him. Vin 9 cams are terrible from a dig and he claims to be using a factory Aurora computer meaning the rev limiter would kick in before the engine makes any power. It also means his top speed is still governed so effectively, if everything he claims is accurate, he made his car slower by spending money on it. On top of that he ran a segregated exhaust system meaning NO scavenging, a loss of about 10hp on a Northstar. That is why his car sounds terrible when it revs. A good L47, no matter if it has Aurora cams or vin 9(300hp) cams, has a crisp, consistent and smooth sound throughout the RPM range. You will never hear a Series One "lope" at idle or start to scatter on the top end. His car needs an exhaust equalization area to be at peak efficiency. Be sure and note that I am talking about scavenging and not back pressure, which an engine does not need. Just an old myth that refuses to die. The reason a straight piped vehicle loses horsepower isn't because of a loss of back pressure, it is because of a loss of exhaust equalization/scavenging. The only engine capable of running efficiently without a mid pipe are forced induction motors. Lastly, we should not be ashamed of our L47. There is no need to call it a Shelby motor. We should be proud that Shelby thought enough of the L47 that they used it in the only vehicle they ever designed from the ground up. They could have used the LS1, InTech(Ford's DOHC 4.6 V8) or even something Italian if they wanted. The fact that they chose the L47 should be something we tout to those who don't know anything other than "oh its just a Northstar". I love my Oldsmobile L47 motor. And I know that it was in my car before it was in the Series One, something I can hold over their heads.

I don't proclaim my car to be anything, I am very proud of my car. BTW the cams activate at 3,500. And I have 3.71 gear ratio, a little compensation for having different cams.. I can hit my powerband faster. I need 1000 rpms to hit peak power, but obviously still have more than you. Compare videos, haha. I let people make their own opinion with my videos for them to see what I see. I'm not hiding anything. To equalize an exhaust for tuning your pressure waves and heat have to match each other from each pipe. That is almost impossible to put an H-pipe at the same distance from your manifold on this car. I love the way my exhaust sounds and it definitely is more efficient than y pipe. I know! I have had it Y'd to magnaflow's, and true dual. I have videos of each showing the difference. I have had it a couple different set ups, from that to flowmaster super 44's. I have found the way I like my car, and if you don't like it kiss my You do whatever you want to and I'll do what I want and if you really wanna compare or bad mouth my car, which I have done a lot of work to, and all of it myself, though I got help with my exhaust by a real professional . Just come to the Meet in June. Though I feel there you will be going like this>

Also I didn't say I had less torque than factory , I have my peak torque at a higher rpm 5,000. The factory cams have lower band torque peaking at 4,400. I have also had both cams, I believe I would know if my car was getting slower or faster I had Cooper CS4's on and I forgot what the set was when I bought it, but the Goodyear grip much much better than those. I don't spin nearly as much. Haven't had any other tire on but I stick with what I know works.

I deleted my older videos on youtube comparing my other set ups to this one because it was confusing people. And my car was slower.. I want to keep it all updated. They are on my computer though still and I think a few members have seen them. Idk if they remember or not, but I do.
Also what I meant was when I have traction control on and my car shifts traction control activates when it shifts into second gear. Hope that clarifies.

Please don't attempt to educate me on exhaust. I'm certain that my credentials are more than whatever "exhaust professional" chose to destroy your engines sync. You have threads on this very forum showing that you have no clue what cams you are running. In one thread you wanted to know how to identify "Shelby cams" because you didn't know what the motor had in it. There is no such thing as a Shelby cam. The vin 9 cams are 300/295 in the 4.6 cars, they are around 270/250 in ours because of the decreased bore size. The Shelby got its 320hp utilizing an intake system that your car doesn't have. A computer and tune that your car doesn't have. A flywheel that your car doesn't have. A proper exhaust system that your car doesn't have. Even if you have vin 9 cams, your stock ECM won't let the car rev to utilize the top end power you might get. And even if you had a tune and were able to lift the governors, you are still lacking all of the parts that made the Shelby L47 different from its standard configuration. Youtube videos claiming performance are about as comical as ricer flybys after they get toasted. I'm not saying anything bad about your car at all, what I'm saying is that all the truly fluent techs know you're speaking out of a hole without vocal cords. Again, there is no such thing as a Shelby Series One engine. The few things that Shelby does use to increase power, your car has none of. I've seen the pictures. An Aurora is a nice car, be proud of it. Recognize that its uniqueness makes it that much better. That's the reason I bought mine. There are faster, cheaper cars out there that are cool. But I wanted this for its certain nature of rarity and surprise. I don't think you want to get into a slug fest about performance with me but if you think you need to prove something we can open up a thread and go 18 rounds with the Aurora community as the judges.

I have an engine that was prepped to be in a Shelby series 1. I know and have known it was vin 9 cams. So why wouldn't I say I have an engine that was internally modded (cams) to be in a Series 1? My original engine blew and I wanted one with more HP at higher rpm, I don't care about drag racing, I just wanna go fast when I hit it wide open. That's what it does. What is your big problem with that? I don't get it, are you that jealous, or just a big ahole. I like my exhaust exactly how it is, get over it. I haven't made any false allegations about my car. The cam thread was just to prove to people my engine was prepped and not a factory crate, like most were. Until I found an install pic where I actually got a pic of the pilot bearing. I have no idea how to identify which casting numbers are for what cam. That was the concrete evidence I wanted but proof of the pilot bearing I thought was enough.
And I'm not sure I'm the only person here that likes how my car sounds either. You are making yourself look like an arrogant fool ranting on and on about somebody else's car, on here & YouTube, and for what reason?
Like I said before I've tried various set ups on my car. My brother-in-law runs an exhaust shop in northern Ohio and he ran my exhaust, he has 15yrs of experience of running exhaust systems. I've found what 'I' like and don't really care what you like, (on my car anyway), by all means do whatever the heck you want to yours. I just thought I'd share my car with everyone else too.

What you are doing is touting numbers that are, by your own accounts, not possible. You know that your car makes less torque with vin 9 cams than a standard Aurora. You know that your top end comes later, and that your computer is hitting its red line before the cams are wide open. How in the world, knowing those things, can you claim a 2 second faster 0-60 time? I'm not ragging on your car, I'm trying to straighten out your details. You contradict yourself so much that you are confusing people. Case in point: My original engine blew and I wanted one with more HP at higher rpm, I don't care about drag racing, I just wanna go fast when I hit it wide open. 0-60 in 6.4 0-80 in 10 ;D And How do you identify Shelby cams? I'm thinking of pulling the valve cover if the weather complies. Where would the numbers be? And what should they be? This shows you have no idea what scavenging means. You are talking about the MUFFLERS scavenging better ... 2" I have Magnaflow's on it; and yes it has much more torque and scavenges better. Here you are talking about the EGR .... No idea what it actually does obviously. It reduces nox and let's exhaust gas enter intake increasing fuel economy I can go on. Your posts are just so wrong that they annoy me. By the way, lets compare tach outs. Yours is supposed to be, according to you, much faster. I'm setting up my dash cam now.

Ladies and gentlemen, for your entertainment today we have a timed tach out contest.
In the Green Corner we have ShelbyRacing sporting mods that make his car rev much faster than a stock Aurora, because he has a "Shelby Series 1 Engine" with true duals.
In the Gold Corner we have GenOne sporting no mods and a very dirty air cleaner. 120k on the car.
LLLLLEEEEEETTTTTS GET READY TO RUUMMMMMMBLLLLE.

Oh wow a no load engine. My car does 0-60 in 6.4-6.7, the peak power is @ 6,500 and I shift @ 6,100. Not too far away. I plan on seeing what kind of power it makes at 6,900. However right now I am hitting my peak torque at 5k and I'm pretty close to the peak HP. I'm nor contradicting anything, I am just being totally honest. The tach out video was to show it's not too loud in the car compared to being out. Post an honest 0-60 or 0-100. My car gained about .5-.3 sec 0-60 with this exhaust.
Aurora has 260 ft lbs and Shelby has 290 ft lbs of torque that really is less ain't it?

Magnaflow let it scavenges better than the super 44's due to their straight through design. In fact mufflers are only there to reduce sound levels and you have to find the one the takes the least.

And displacing oxygen with exhaust gases means the computer will add less fuel...hhhhmmm. if it is adding less fuel because there is less oxygen I wonder what will happen to fuel economy? Egr is to reduce nox by lowering exhaust temp because there is......less fuel.... Which creates less heat.

This thread is so off topic... It doesn't benefit anybody to read this crap when they wanna learn about traction control so you can respond to yourself, I'll be at the June meet and everyone can make whatever opinion they want. Just don't confuse opinions with facts my car hits 80 in 10 seconds. And if yours does too good for you, but mine never could before.. Oh wow a no load engine. Aurora has 260 ft lbs and Shelby has 290 ft lbs of torque that really is less ain't it? Man you just won't quit will you? By the way, you've touted that your car revs faster due to the mods. It most certainly does not. Our tach outs have IDENTICAL mapping meaning if you watch the video in slow motion you will see that the two cars rev with the same power band. This wouldn't happen with the vin 9 cams. And how many times do I have to tell you that the power picked up by the Series One was due to all the things your car lacks. Better intake, exhaust and tuning. Your car does not have 290 ft lbs. Looking at the power band in the video, I don't think your car has vin 9 cams. It is literally identical to my bone stock 99, except because I have a proper exhaust I can drop RPMs much faster making it more efficient. Your engine has none of the parts that Shelby used to increase power, sans the cams(which I question). Lets make this real easy. We both have our vehicles dynoed. Whoever is farthest from to their claimed power output pays for the others session. Yours at 300hp, mine at 250. If your no load engine can't out rev mine, how do you think it will out perform mine with a load? My 383 stroker revs twice as fast as a stock 350 with no load. A no load performance engine will show a faster rev climb than the same engine without mods. Yours absolutely, 100% does NOT out rev my stock L47.

Dyno cost $ sorry I don't have much or I would. I've been thinking of a dyno comparison after I get a tuned computer, to compare them in 1 hook up. Which I also don't have money for right now. The fact is I like my set up, you don't have to. And I don't care what you think. I think there is a strip near where we meet which can tell some factual data.

If your car puts down closer to 300hp than mine does to 250hp, I'll pay for your dyno session AND help you build a tune for the car(I have SCT Advantage software). I'll even give you a hand held tuner itself for dealer cost. I'm in for a run down the strip. Something else you need to remember is your tires are too small. Check your speedo reading with a good GPS and I'll bet you are 5-6mph off at 60mph. So your 0-60 runs are more like 0-55. Like others who watched your 0-60 video I counted closer to 8 seconds.
Look I commend you for fixing the car after you wrecked it. I see far too many of these cars in scrap yards that don't have much damage at all. That is why I'm willing to go pull the parts off the cars for the Aurora forums for free, I don't want to see any more of them in the yards. If I can save a few cars from that fate and a few owners some cash, I'm happy. You just pull strings a little too often about what your car can do, the mods, the power output, etc. If you needed a set of headlights, I'd go pull them for you and send them immediately. It isn't that I'm out to get you or just don't like you, I just don't like you passing out information that might cost someone else money/efficiency(like the dual exhaust). If you like the car how it is, excellent. I never even said I didn't like the car, other than the exhaust.
