Have had a 2001 Aurora (4.0) for about 4 months that I absolutely love. I do a lot of highway driving for work and was wondering if anyone has experience with "chipping" or doing any other mods to increase MPG. Thanks

I assume by "chipping" you mean (re)programming the PCM. Not saying yeah or nay on that one. You can boost your mileage by maintaining a few simple things; tire pressure, air filter, fuel delivery system and accelerator return spring. Welcome to the club!

Echo the above....I run the tires at the max on the sidewall, change oil by 50% on the oil minder, and use the cruise a lot, and still only have a long term average of 23 mpg. I just did a tank of nearly all highway at 27+ with the AC on - and it was 98 outside...

I'm not 100% sure about the 2g's, but I know in my classic running premium (whether it had ethanol or no ethanol) made a large difference in mileage over 87.
Also - I don't think there are any programmers you can use for these cars. The 4.0 is decent on the highway - My 1g I got 26-28mpg on the highway regularly, cruising at 72mph with the AC on as well.

You can use 87 in a 2G 4.0. But with the 10.3:1 CR, the PCM is going to retard the timing very, very far back to prevent knock & that's going to result in a big drop in power.

Anyone have experisence running premium w/ no ethanol vs regular unleaded? there are dozens of gas threads around here if you look. wireless said "Also - I don't think there are any programmers you can use for these cars." but there is a performance module which does the same thing. I have the Jet performance module and it does help by tweaking the spark map but is hardly noticeable and not really worth the money they cost. Then again 5 hp is 5 hp.
