an old-school cooling mod i thought of that seems aurora worthy. in the old days street-rodders would raise the back of the hood, often even working a flair into the hood itself. they'd raise the back of the hood just a little bit which increased frontal area (FWD = more downforce too) but served as a reverse hood scoop , more like a heat extractor since its not intake system related. since the aurora has the egg carton design for noise reduction, i've pretty much determined that fitting extractors will be pretty difficult. however a few simple 5 cent washers from any hardware store on the rear hood bracket bolts would suffice, so long as you also pull the rubber seal off the back piece below/ front of plastic cowl. any engine heat under-hood would be sucked outside over the windshield when moving and when idle well you know that heat rises so it would act as a natural stovepipe. just think how fast it could melt ice off the window in winter lol. i realize that the body lines could get out of whack if you went too far but something subtle would be ok i think. i's on my to do list if my car is salveagable. remember you heard it here first i dub thee...hood raiser mod ;D

Are you referring to something like a cowl hood?
Assuming we did have a cowl hood for our cars: To be honest, I don't think it would make a difference. If it was going to make a difference, I think it would make the engine cool down quicker, and take longer to warm up..

Even a mm difference in hood/fender height is noticeable. I know from the strut tower brace install. Unacceptable to me, maybe not to others. I would think letting air in from the front between the hood and fascia would cause more drag from the rubber seal/strip being removed and potentially blowing your hood open if you forget to latch it for whatever reason. Not likely but possible. Better off with Bob's Deluxe Cooling Fan mod! Works perfect Bob and myself. Not sure anyone else has done it.

A lot of people with imports do this, which doesn't make it bad just saying. One problem is usually if you want it to work you need to scrap the hood seal above the firewall. Next is your hood latch may not line up and close correctly. Pros are auroras don't really have air flowing into the front (no grill), and this could potentially vent air out of the engine bay. Like lance said something within reason, too much of a gap wouldn't be a good look for any car imo.

1. i'm only using a cowl hood as an example. 2. what's this deluxe fan mod you speak of sall?...link? i didn't say anything about the front of the hood either but yes my car has that flap removed. 3. the front hood latch is adjustable guys! 4. only talking about 1/3 of an inch or so here, it wouldn't take much (not so much that it gaps between the hood and fenders on the sides. 5. dylanm seems to be the only one who gets it. however i i said you'd have to remove / scrap that piece!
