undaunted by that coolant problem a few weeks ago, I took the girl down to the Jersey shore this past Thursday for a fishing trip with a few friends. She performed great, and it was nice to have that trunk pass-through for my boat rod. The best thing was on the way home I had to stop at the service plaza on the Atlantic City Expressway for gas. I did the usual thing of resetting the fuel gauge on the DIC (because the actual fuel gauge is unreliable after 1/2 tank....the DIC fuel usage gauge is totally reliable as a backup, and when it says that I've used 15 gallons, it's time to start looking for a gas station). Anyway, I headed out for the rest of my trip, and drove the rest of the way up the ACXPY to Philly, then passed through on the infamous Schuykill Expressway and turned north towards home. It wasn't until about 45 minutes later that I looked at the DIC gauge. I was only about 10 miles from home, and the DIC said that I had consumed a mere 3 gallons of gas for the 90 miles i had traveled. I was actually a little alarmed, because it seemed to be rather low considering that I was alternating speed between 55 and 75 mph in that span of time. Well, it seems to have once again delivered accurate information, and that would mean that I got around 30 MPG in that stretch. I am duly impressed with my high mile '02 3.5!
