I was just wondering if anyone on here dynoed their 4.0? At 250hp/260tq....im guessing its putting 190/200 down....but I wonder if this engine truly is overrated. Itdoesnt make sense how it only gives up 50hp/50tq from the seville sts, plus weighs less, and only lays down an avg. Of a 16 at the track. The seville is at around 14.8.....it should only be a .5 second difference, not a full second...and thats not taking in account the weight difference

I think that a different Transmission may help this car out. It's a dog up to 40. No low end grunt at all, absolutely pathetic.
Now, if the Aurora could launch at say... 3500rpm's... or even 2500... or better yet, a manual was available... be a different story imo.

We've got a four wheel Dyno at work, I'd like to Dyno mine at some point. I'll definitely post up figures if/when I do it. I helped Dyno an 05 mustang the other day that we put a new motor in (not sure of the size) as we'll as a little whipple blower and methanol injection. It made 650 to the tire after our tune. Sweet.

That would be great to dyno one of our auroraS. I'm anxiously waiting for that.

Collins if its a mustang its either a 4.6 or 5.4 but a 5.4 was never factory and only came in shelbys in the newer models

I know it was at least a 5 liter. It was probably the 5.4. It's an 05 GT but we put a non-stock motor in it for being a GT. I'm sure it's a ford V8 motor though. I'll ask when I'm back at work next week, the engine guys will know for sure. When I say I helped I basically just strapped it down, put in the dyno's wideband o2 sensor, and watched him tune for a while. ;D He spent a couple hours tuning it, it was running perfectly once he was done.
He believes he could tune one of our Auroras (I've asked). It would be through the hp tuners software that we use for all our GM stuff and it would be $100 for the credits needed for the tune on top of the time it would take to tune it. It would be locked to his programming cable and laptop, and to the specific PCM he would be tuning. He didn't check too hard bc we're pretty busy and I don't want to mess with it now anyway. It's another possibility though, I guess. Even to just remove the speed limiter it would cost that much if we could do it. I someone was interested in bringing their car to KC to get it tuned I would check to be sure it worked first of course, or I guess if it was a 96 I could stick the PCM in my car and tune it that way, but my car has some issues so the tune wouldn't be perfect when swapped to another 96.

I have heard of a few dyno thir Auroras. here is a video of one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd7bzE4lUU4HPTuners cannot tune the Classic PCM. And 1996-1999 Deville, Seville and Aurora use the same PCM just programmed differently.

Hmmm ok, well I know we have a couple different methods of tuning. HP Tuners is the one we prefer but we use a couple others. I don't tune the actual cars, i just help them with part design and fab.
There may be another type of software we have that we can use to play with stuff like shift points and speed limiters. We have two or three different kinds of software that we use, HP Tuners is just the preferred method. Again I won't know til I ask next week, but I'll let you all know if there is something that will work. If there is interest in it then I can sure check on it. No clue on price either, but I'm sure we would have to charge something as we're pretty busy and it would have to fit into the schedule. I would try to make it as fair as possible, and would try it on mine first if we think that we can do the tune in order to ensure that it works first.

HexEditor and TunerPro. The chip has to be removed from the actual PCM is what I understood from westers and caleditors posts.

If it can be done successfully...I'm down. I want my limiter gone!! And higher shift points.

Again I'm not sure what what we use (and I know you aren't either lol) but I'll let you know. I don't think it's either one of those. Our engine guys are geniuses, if they don't know how to do it then it can't be done haha. We'll figure it out. I've been so busy with the AC Cobra kit stuff (among other things) that I didn't have time to look into it before the wedding.

No one ever has money to dyno an Aurora after fixing it.

No one ever has money to dyno an Aurora after fixing it. Or wants to take the chance of breaking what they just fixed.....

I would definitely drive that way to get this thing dyno-tuned. That would be a great test for these cams to see where the power is with my exhaust set up. I'm thinkin' shift points at 7,100.
