Its just an idea. I think it would be pretty sweet to do burnouts with an aurora. What do you guys think it will take to do it. I figure a something like a corvette style independent rear end with a 3:73 gear ratio as far as the rear is concerned. But what would you guys think.

It could be done if you wanted to spend a ton of money. When Auroras were raced in IMSA in the 1990s, they were converted to RWD.

this is one of my projects for the future. once im out of college and get some money coming in, i want to do this. i basically want to make the ultimate street legal sleeper. i want a twin turbo v8 (probably a chevy), convert it to RWD, and strip all unnecessary weight. it aint gonna happen for a long time, but its on the project list.

well the engine (for me atleast) would be something out of a vette or a sts-v that was wrecked and take the north* out of that

LS1? I would think more like the LS5 or 7. A supercharged LS9 out of a C6 ZR1 would be sweet too, but it's cheaper to get a LS5 and put a huge Procharger blower on it haha
Oh, dreams....

Nice, but what's the cost? I bet mine is cheaper. ;D
That would be sweet, definitely the most powerful Aurora ever. ;D ;D

that engine is a 572 big block. its a $42,000 engine that puts out 2000 hp on pump gas. ya a ls series would be cheaper, but this would just be BA.
like i say, "overkill is underrated." ;D

you guys are nuts. as much as I love power if we had the money to do this we'd all be owning a newer vetter or camaro etc instead with adding money to that lol as much as I love my aurora she's a luxury vehicle not a sports car as much as she tries to be and handles as well

Very old topic... but... Back in 2007, here in Kansas City, a local high-end shop converted a 2003 Cadillac DeVille (very similar to FWD Aurora) to RWD and put a nice mild Chevy V8 in it... to the tune of 572 cu.in. www.youtube.com/results?search_query=tallant+572+cadillacwww.mecum.com/lots/KC1209-87564/2003-cadillac-deville-dts/Look how far back into the firewall they had to push it to get it to fit... NOTHING about this build was easy. They used to have a full build history on the project, but I can't find it on their website now... it was several months, and likely over $50k since that engine alone was $18k. Personally... the ICE is so out-dated and wasteful... I'd much rather do a real "sleeper"... no noisy engine with all of its moving parts that wear out, no complicated transmission that will wear out, just full electric... drop my 1st Gen. Aurora body onto the chassis of a wrecked/repairable Tesla Model S P100D... best of both worlds... fully up-to-date technology, and classic Aurora body, with a 2.5 sec. 0-60 Ludicrous mode.

Hate to rain on your parade, but all Auroras are unibody. And even if they were body om frame like the Tesla S, there's a 4" difference in wheelbase. It would be a double crapload of work and money... I do like the idea though!

It would be fun.
Here is my perspective though.
I own a 68 Mustang, 98 MarkVIII and 97 Aurora right now.
The beauty of this car is the front wheel drive. Embrace it. Be unique. Try to get a twin turbo transverse mounted LS motor to fit!
