I'm having an issue with my DIC. It frequently signals that the passenger door is ajar when it's firmly closed. I figured out yesterday that I can clear this erroneous message by pressing the "OFF" button, but I'd like to actually fix the problem, if possible. Any suggestions?

Err... do your interior lights (dome lights, courtesy lights) come on when that message comes up?

I have yet to figure out the switches for that, because if you close the door latch and have the key in, the lights and key reminder turn off, but the message still comes up on the DIC which means its a seperate switch somewhere

My guess is the actuator needs replaced even if the physical locking/unlocking is working. The switch signal may no longer be working or the wiring is suspect.

Thanks for your responses. Wireless: No. It's just the message. Dome lights do not come on. Nelson: The passenger door lock actuator works fine but the driver's door lock actuator is completely non-functional. Paul: I'll check the lock for obstructions tomorrow. Err... do your interior lights (dome lights, courtesy lights) come on when that message comes up?

Could be a broken wire in the hinge loom. Need schematics to diagnose, but the latch switch is,I believe, SPDT, and works two circuits separately.

I agree good place to start in the door jamb. Should have been specific when saying 'suspect wiring' haha. I'll look for schematics later if I get the chance.

Pretty sure it's in the door latch. I have the opposite problem - my LR door will not trigger the dome lights to come on when you open it. On the 2G it feeds to the door module which then signals the fault over the comm link.....

I never was able to trace down the cause of the erroneous "Passenger Door Ajar" message, but I discovered that if I press the "RCL" button when it comes up, it'll go away and not come back until I turn the car off and restart it. Not an ideal solution, but I can live with it for now.

In the door.... it's what pops your locks open and pulls them closed. A solenoid sort of like the bi-xenon solenoid for the Mh1 projectors. I got a new laptop so I don't have the FSM software installed yet to pull up specifics for you.

I just looked it up in the 1996 FSM (page 10-6-18). The actuator is located inside the door, directly above the latch mechanism. I need one for my driver's door. Does anyone know what, if any, GM cars have actuators compatible with the Aurora?

I'm having a similar issue... I get right rear door ajar only when I shift out of park. All the locks, windows and light work without issue. The door closes and stays shut without issue. Any thoughts?
