Hello all, I currently want to change out my 1997 Classis's stock mufflers for performance ones (but still keeping the factory catback piping for now); but I need to know the stock/factory muffler inlet piping size.
And also I was wondering if i'd be able to use 2 canister mufflers attached to the stock piping and would it be long enough to extend to the muffler outlets of rear bumper?
Otherwise i'm looking for some cheap, fit table to stock piping & good sounding performance mufflers with the stock piping.

Any exhaust shop should be able to correctly fit a muffler in with the stock tips/pipes.
Depending on the legality... you may just do a muffler delete. A lot of us have & love it.

If I were to keep the catalytic converter on, I too would muffler delete and keep the resonator.

1.75" piping from the "y" back IIRC

intermediate pipe = 2.5" O.D. After Y to Muffler Inlet= 1.875" O.D. Muffler Outlet to Tail Pipe = 1.75" O.D.
ed. fixed my typo.

Ahh this was what I was looking for haha I love the indirect answers :S Mine's a 98, and mine are... 2 1/2" I think. Not 100% sure, Just had a muffler shop do it lol My answer is pretty indirect too. lol, as was mine how's this? (all OD) 2.5" cat back2 1/2" OD before the Y pipe! 1 7/8" OD after the Y! so i guess depending where you start the new pipe, will depend on the size you use! so 1.875...close enough lol

Well besides the y pipe measurement, but I'm assuming that's a typo, just wanted to give a visual of it lol

I heard the flowmaster 40 series should do the job any advice plz let me know asap You found us! I was going to send you a YouTube message, I'm xjsmstr over there. I see you found my videos. ;D Flows will make it deep and throaty, or at least it does on the v8. I loved the straights (I have an electric cutout now, mufflers are back on.) but open exhaust is a little raspy on the high end. Not too bad, but not quite perfect either. Nice and throaty at idle though and through the low-mid RPMs. Works perfect for me with the cutout, it's whisper quiet with it closed. I like having options. I'm not sure what route to go with the v6 (canada rob, did you have straights?) but I'm sure someone will chime in. My money is on the flows though if you're looking for that perfect throaty rumble.

Keep resonator if you don't want it to be obvious that is a v6. I'd probably even add a Magnaflow after resonator then it's Flowmasters. Should get a deep tone out of that.
