Traction/Stability Control and ABS

When the roads are slightly slippery and I put my foot in it, the wheels will spin (duh) and there's no lights that turn on when that happens. I had a 2001 Taurus that is probably a good ten grand cheaper and that ne'er happened. We have a gravel driveway and the wheels spun a few times but a dummy light came on and stopped the wheels. Blah blah long story short, a car that was at least $30,000 new, doesn't even have traction control? My stepdads Saturn does. I know the stability control was optional but I'm having a hard time believing mine doesn't even have traction control.
As for the ABS, until the other night, my ABS light hasn't reared its head in a while but it chose to after I hit a bump. One time, the light came on as I was braking and could feel a difference in the pedal. I know I need it looked at but does anyone have ideas? Had it done before and can warn me how much it will cost? Thanks!

bad wire or need new hub Bering dono what the issue but it be about 250-300$ to fix if its a hub bearing .

Never thought that traction control wasn't standard.
The RPO Codes:
JL9 - Front and Rear Antilock brakes 51972 shipped out of 51972 total (2001)
JL4 - Active Brake Control 22834 shipped out of 51972
NW9 - Traction Control 24437 shipped out of 51972
So...it's more likely that you don't have traction control than you do. News to me.
I've run across some that were fleet cars and they had virtually nothing on them.

It's the 3.5. Mine has the heated seats but I don't think there are any other options installed. I can understand stability control being optional but the 3.5 was still a pretty penny, I think they could of given you traction control for that.

Unless my button would be in a desperate spot for no reason lol. I have rain sensing wipers, moonroof, heated seats and passenger parking mirror.

Traction control only came with stability control you u don't have stability control you don't have traction control only ABS.

I see it. It looks like the door for the console compartment is off the hinge on the left.

Is that all? I've never really bent down and looked there. I know it's a very deep compartment. Pops back on? I can actually put my hand on te other side and push/pull on it.

You might be able to get it back on the hinge if you try pressing it in on the left side, but the FSM doesn't mention anything about that door.

that's mean you only have ABS no TC.but when you start the car do you get Trac on and off light on right side of the speedometer?plus the wood on the radio bezel looks different from the center counsel maybe someone replaced the center counsel without the button if you do see trac on and off on speedometer when you start the car.

If you can believe the VIN decoder I used way back when, there are about 2000 of the 2001's that are running around with traction control without stability control, but even at that, there are more that don't have traction control than those that do.
Does seem kinda odd.
'99 Intrigue GLS - they made 16,000 or so and about 14,000 had traction control (NW9)
'98 Iintrigue GLS has it too, but it must be hiding in one of the packages, as it's not in the RPO list.

So...I just figured everybody got traction control as all my Oldsmobiles have it....

Traction control isn't a huge deal I just figured for the price, it'd be standard. I've never looked. I know my check engine light comes on right away and my ABS occasionally. I'm assuming it would say T/C or something along those lines?
I wish it were warmer because I don't feel like messing with my at when it's cold. I'd rather be inside lol. It may be a bad angle of my camera. The previous owner would have had to of done something for it to be off like it is. It makes the door a little tricky opening and closing

I dono I never seen aurora with TC and without Stability control. 98 Intrigue's even gx model that I had had it. I think by 99 they made it optional .But I think TC in Aurora works different and better than in Intrigue . Aurora get more traction than intrigue I dono why.

I don't think it has stability control either.
Btw, is there a thread somewhere about replacing lights in the dash? I emailed Oldsmobile but they wanted me to go to a dealership (of course) and anything a dealership does will be expensive and they'll find unnecessary problems. As you can see, it's pretty much just the left half.

This tells me all the options? I have an 02, that make much of a difference?

RPO codes (Regular Production Option) codes don't change from year to year. A Z28 is still a Z28. FE3 is still firm ride and handling suspension.
Availability does change - some standard features become optional, then they show individually on the build sheet.

My 01 3.5 was a rental car for it's first year. Doesn't have Traction, stability, or heated seats. Not sure if there is anything else missing from "normal", but that's it for mine. \

3.5 2001-2002 TC Stability was optional 4.0 was standard. You only have ABS.
