I'm pretty sure 1998 Cadillac STS 17" 7 spoke wheels will fit my 2G. Just want to check here first, looks like the Cadillac wheels specs out with about 1/4" more backspacing than the OEM 17" chrome Aurora wheels I have now. I'm thinking that should not affect anything with 245/55/17's. Price is $100 for the set of Caddy rims. Good/bad? Pros/Cons?. Looking for insight

Thanks for the replys..search is still on, glad to know the fit without concerns. Turns out the $100 rims on craigslist had issues (been spray painted). Passed on them. Would just keep the original rims, however the corrosion on the backside is a real concern.. Previous owner said he did not drive the car in winter, unsure about that statement since the front had snow tires on when I bought it. Still looking for wheels

FYI, the 245/55/17 is about a 1/2" taller than the stock tire (235/55/17 / 27.2" tall). I'm running 255/50/17 (27.1). It looks awesome and doesn't seem to cause any clearance issues, though my backspace moved the wheels out just a bit. Based on my measurements, it would have cleared with the stock wheels as well. I checked your link. Looks sweet. Nice choice in wheels. The 245/55/17's were on the car when I bought it. Seem to fit with no issues. I'm actually ok with the look of the factory wheels, but the corrosion on the back is incredible. Thick flakes the size of a quarter or larger all over the back side.

FYI, the 245/55/17 is about a 1/2" taller than the stock tire (235/55/17 / 27.2" tall). The difference between 235/55/17 and 245/55/17 is width not height. Not sure if that was a typo or not. 255 fit just fine on both gens.

It wasn't a typo. The 245/55/17 is 27.6" tall. The stock 235/55/17 is 27.2". That almost a 1/2" in my book.

I've never had a typo in my life, so It couldn't have been me With regard to the difference in height, I agree, the difference is not much. I just wanted to bring attention to it in case mrgbody or anyone else reading the post was unaware. On my car...Thanks! I found those wheels years ago, and since they look a lot like the "OSV" wheels, I've held onto them. This is the first time I've had them on an Aurora. (I've had them on an Intrigue and a few Aleros previously) With regard to flaking finish, the best option I have found (Other than not living in the Northern Ohio) is to remove any of the loose finish and coat the whole back-side of the wheel with "Rust Bullet" It really seems to work well, it's durable, and stops the progression in its tracks. The nice thing is, it's silver so it's not as obvious as POR15, which also works well, but shows up a lot more in the openings between spokes. Ken
