Anyone using Rotella 10w-30 T5 oil? It is a synthetic blend. She is due for an oil change before winter sets in. Just researching some alternatives. www.shell.com/rotella/products/t5.htmlFrom looking at BITOG it seems it is really good cold start oil as well.

Yes it's synthetic blend. Been running blends for years now, but with high mileage additive package.

I have been running Amsoil Synthetic for over 30 years in everything I have owned from Lawnmower, motorcycles to my Kenworth Dump Truck. All my Auroras have had Amsoil 5w30 full synthetic in each of them as soon as I purchase them. That is whether they have had very few miles on them or 165,000 miles on them. If you want them to start very easy in the Winter, to No possible overheating damage in the summer. Check out their entire line-up of Lubricants and Trans fluids to Gear Lubes for your car at www.amsoil.com And yes it really is a 25,000 mile oil. You don't have to leave it in that long, but it is worth the extra cost! TREAT YOUR Aurora with Special Care! Use Amsoil Customer # 164030 Any Synthetic is better for your car than even the best Petroleum. And Amsoil is the Best of the Best Synthetic! See you at the next Meet

The cost benefit to run the Amsoil is not worth it to me over the Rotella T6.
So far the '96 seems to be very happy with T6 10w-40! No increased leakage switching back to full synthetic.

Still rolling with this 5w-40 T6 oil and M1 EP filter. No increased leakage/consumption and good oil pressure. A few thousand miles and still very clean. I may send to the oil in to be analyzed. The car seems to really like it.

switching to synthetic will increas your oil leaks. Old comment, I know, but I guess this isn't really necroposting because the thread is still active. Synthetic isn't going to make the leaks actually get worse, it's just that it's more likely to flow through the ones you already have, because it has better flow properties. Assuming your engine isn't leaking oil, those flow properties are likely going to be beneficial. Personally, I plan to go full synthetic after I get around to doing the valve cover gaskets on mine. EDIT: glad to hear you're having good results with that, sall!

I never experienced an increase in oil leaks with Mobil-1 full syn. She leaks just as much as she always did

switching to synthetic will increas your oil leaks. The only time I experienced this was when switching from conventional to mobil 4t on a 35 year old motorcycle.

I run amsoil in all my cars, trucks, bobcats and lawn equipment. Its worth every penny and with my account, its cheaper than Mobil 1 and cost the same as rotella.

Right. Mine doesn't leak anymore or any less for that matter haha. It's a myth.
I like amsoil too but no way to get it unless I have it shipped and that makes the price not worth it. My 96 loves the T6.

Amsoil is seriously the best. Every vehicle i've run it on runs, revs, drives better and last longer. i let my renewal lapse and when it was time it was only $10 for a six month temporary membership, and it brought the cost of oil down to $7.85/qt. for the Signature series, and even the XL series is only 5.84!!!!!!! that's cheaper than mobile 1, Royal Purple, Valv, Castrol SYNTHETIC anywhere around here. (a case (4) of gallon jugs (equivalent of 16 quarts) shipped (1300 miles) to me was 14.29 for S&H). not worth the price?
why wouldn't you?

From BITOG
If I could get Amsoil easily, I would give it a go but it's not easily obtainable.
