One made a very noticeable difference on my 2000 Camaro. How much on a "wrong wheel drive" car can this help? Any suggested manufacturer on one?

GM! '04-'05 Pontiac Bonneville GXP Strut tower brace is a direct bolt on for your Aurora, it fits all Auroras '98 and up. I had to modify my '97 strut tower bolt locations to fit mine on.

I just bought one (strut bar/Bonneville GXP) a few weeks ago. As soon as the weather breaks, I'll install it and take a few pics for confirmation of any fitment issues.

It bows the hood doesn't it? I modified the STS one to fit my '96. There were fitment issues with those(brake fluid reservoir) and bowing the hood. Not sure about the Bonneville GXP STB in the Classic other than it won't fit earlier model years with the different strut mount bolt pattern. Unless you make some changes as Randy mentioned. No fitment issues with the Bonneville one on the 2G.

Beautiful
No need for longer bolts? Seems the bar would give less threads to grab.

I bought mine from a member here and the tower bolts were included, I don't remember if they were different, but they probably were.

I just installed the GXP bar on my '01. The factory bolts had pleanty of thread for installation.
Installation took (maybe) 8 minutes!!
To CONFIRM, on the '01-'03, there are NO modifications needed. It is direct bolt-on. No clearance issues, no fastner issues, nothin'!!

It is direct bolt-on. No clearance issues, no fastner issues, nothin'!! Hey Kersh, you got a P/N for that one? Here are the parts and pics for a 2nd gen. strut tower brace; Purchased from gmpartsdirect.com; Bar - 25768516 $56.31 RH bracket - 10360987 $12.18 LH bracket - 25768515 $12.18 Plus $18.07 S&H Took about a month to get those and found that the bolts didn't come with them. Ordered the bolts from a local dealer. The 4 bolts are; PN 11589401, $6.40 each + tax. 6 longer strut mount bolts are needed, due to the bracket thickness. These are PN 11513268, $1.60 each + tax at local dealer.

Does the brace noticeably improve the handling? The aurora body is very strong and stiff already. Did GM factory install this on any of the G body varients and which ones?

Euro 98-04 Seville STS. They used the other bar I modified for my '96 though not the GXP bar. Depends on how you drive your car but it made a nice improvement IMO

I was at my local pick and pull and noticed that many af the early 90's GM full size Buicks and Pontiacs had a strut braces. I grabbed one for $5.00 and thought that I would just see if it could be modified to fit my 95 Aurora. Using some scrap 1/8 plate steel and a cardboard pattern I put togeter a quick brace. If it works well I will make one for my 99. My 95 has studs on the struts and this simply takes the place of the washers and will comes off with 4 nuts. It just clears the brake reservoir and does rub on the hood insulation ,but does not bow the hood. I think the cross section of the square tube may be smaller than the round tubes pictured in other instalations. The brace does follow a more direct path between struts. Rich PS the valve covers on Randy"s car looks great. I wish I had spent more time cleaning mine up when I did the stud job.

How is your hood fitment randnon? I modified the STS one a bit. Quickest picture I could find. New underhood lamp No hood bowing.

My hood fits great,I adjust all my doors and movable panels when I first purchase a car or when necessary. Most people consider me fussy. I am the one who made the aluminum bracket to narrow the Hood bumper gap . These photo's were just taken. I like the blacked out engine treatment. Your strut support looks like it follows the same path as mine. As far as I can tell it only rubs the insulation for about 3" where the ctr bracket bolts to the side mounting plates. Rich

I have been driving with the strut brace for a week and I think that the addional rigidity is noticeable. I have not done many quick corners but this is pothole time and the car does not seem to shutter when I hit a big one. For about one hours work and a $5 reclaimed brace it is worth doing. Time to get another brace from the Pick and pull and add one to my 99 when I put it on the road. Thanks for the idea guys. Rich

On my 1998 Aurora the GXP bar DID bow the hood. I bent the brackets and adjusted the the hood, and reduced the bow. It's not perfect but is okay. It seems the little bump on the bracket that faces the front of the car hits on the hood. I may cut the bracket.. The bar does improve handling (although I currently have a broken swaybar link).

FYI: the GM part number for the bolts (PN 11513268 / listed above) has been discontinued based on the information I was given from my distributor...

I wonder if the interference you are seeing is because your brace loops around the front of the tower. My brace and Sall's only connects with the two center strut bolts? It must be tighter under the hood of the 1st gen Aurora. My brace can't get any lower, it is about 1/16th off the brake reservoir. Good luck, Rich
