Picked up a spare engine cover while at the boneyard and I would like to color match to the body (silver) and have it ready to go when and if the weather ever breaks and I get the time to detail the engine compartment. Have seen pics here and I think it really looks sharp, so questions to those who have done it would be; How did you prep for paint? and is regular body colored spray paint ok or does it get hot enough that some sort of high temp paint is needed. Would appreciate some firsthand advise so that it gets done right. thx.

I did my cover about 7 years ago, prep it like any outside pannel sand, degrease ect. It can be painted with regular paint as it does not get that hot . Good luck. Ps you may want to look thru some of the other guys pictures of valve cover repaints , they look great.

Thanks for the reply. Pouring thru the showroom page is what convinced me to do it. It really sets off a detailed engine compartment.
I'll have to take a look and give the valve covers some thought, I'm sure it looks awesome done right.
