I've tried many from quick spray & wipe polymers to butt-kicking hard carnauba paste wax and none have really impressed me enough to buy twice. You?

You need to check out chemical guys. I have their extreme depth wax and it looks great on my black car. Its a liquid wax that goes on really easy ( I did mine by hand, but you can use a machine too), and buffs off perfectly. They also have a ton of really useful YouTube videos. All of their products I have used are great.

Meguairs Cleaner Wax and a clay bar have given me the best, smoothest results, but if I don't feel like killing my arms I just go standard wax as you dry by turtle wax, it actually works pretty dang well.

I've always used Maguires prep products and I picKed up a bottle each of their Ultimate compound and glaze to try. I was surprised to find Griots at one of my local auto parts stores so I got a bottle of their liquid wax to try. I'm also going to invest in a new DA polisher. For years I've used a big 12" Dewalt DA buffer but it's tiring to muscle it around and I can't find big bonnets for it anymore. Time to get a PC 7424. I'm going to use the Chemical Guys videos for tips on detailing with this type of polisher.

Yep. DAs are great. I couldn't do all the detailing steps on the big body by hand in a day. Meguires ultimate line is pretty good. I have also bought some Griots product from Advance Auto but have only used the sealant as of this point. It works well.

Big Meguiars fan, especially their Ultimate waxes but dont over look the cheaper stuff. Used their M06 cleaner wax on the olds this year with great results! Doesnt last long though.
