Just purchased a 2001 Aurora Loaded w/ 4.0, spare tire was NG I measured tire well it's about 26.5" wide but only 7.5" deep, the factory tire is 235 55 17. I was going to get a steel 16" rim with 205 x70 x 16 tire may fit, has anyone tried any other rims, and any suggestion on tire size? Also need to replace drivers seat and rear bench seat, possibly both front door panels (door pulls are a little ruffled) Are any other models compatible. Coolant level light is on, I thought I read some ware that the whole reservoir needs to be replaced is that true? Thanks for any help? A little about me a former mechanic had 2 repair shops for close to 15 years, until we built our 1st car wash and have been professionally washing and detailing vehicles past 25 years. Back in the day was when the local Ma & Pa garage did everything from rebuilding motors to tuneups, wheel alignments all front end work, electrical systems,AC repair from flushing systems and replacing compressors to simple charging. I used to buy freon by the pallets 35lb'ers at a time and went through 2-3 pallets every summer. Now a single 50 lb can of r12 is over $1000 if you can even find it. Now as far as detailing goes I do everything from polishing headlights or refurbishing (new coat of UV clear coat), leather conditioning (lexol products ONLY). easy way to clean floors seats etc, complete detailing, express detailing, acid rain removal. You name it, I now how to do it. I am OK with scratches but w/o a paint gauge I don't like doing a lot of it. So any questions you can PM me at 555carwash@gmail.com or ask in this general forum.

Welcome to ACNA!
Sounds awesome man! I'm not sure on your spare tire or your coolant issue. I do not own a 2nd gen. Somebody here knows though, for sure.
Post some pictures of your Aurora, love looking at them.

Coolant level light is on, I thought I read some ware that the whole reservoir needs to be replaced is that true? You can try cleaning it (the sensor is in the reservoir), some have had luck. I tried twice but eventually just gave in and bought a new tank.

Thanks for the advice on cleaning. I'll give it a shot. I love the red Aurora!!! When I was searching I could not find one, in my budget. I did find an 04 limited if I remember it had a landau roof (rear section only) looked really sharp. My criteria for my Aurora was- wanted 2nd gen w./4.0 and side air bags under 150,000 mi. I would eventually give it to my daughter (shes not the worlds greatest driver). She's going overseas for a year (transfer student) so I have time to look for a second one. Once I get some pics I will post mine. I just finished detailing entire car but drivers seat was pretty bad, same for rear bench seat worn with some tears. I am surprised most of these the leather did not hold up very well. There's a bone yard down the road just got one in but has a clean interior, wants $300 for driver' seat $100 for rear bench and $100 each door panel sounds a little pricey.
