I was wondering if any of the 2g guys ever cut the mufflers and resonator out and straight piped the exhaust from the cat back does it sound good or would it be too loud?

I have a cutout after the resonator on my 4.0 now. Had straight pipes on it and the drone on the highway was too much for my wife, hence the cutout. Perfect solution. Swapped the system from my parts car on (since it had mufflers already) and welded the cutout in. I would go with the electric cutout over straight pipes since you've got a clean slate!

Nice video. That's one of our old members that made that. Should lend some insight! Muffler, res and cat delete is like the loudest thing ever. Lol

Cut out is the way to go. I have a 2.5" cutout welded on after a high flow cat, and corsa exhaust finishing out the exhaust. The corsa sounds super crisp and clean, and with a simple switch, open the cutout and voila! Real loud!

I have a hallow cat and straight pipes replacing the mufflers, I still have the resonator. It's a little loud, depending on how I drive, but I get a lot of compliments about the unique sound it has, it's worth it.  |

What if replacing the resonator with say like a turbo muffler in place?

No room for anything there really but a glass pack. Barely enough to run 2.5" duals.
I copied this setup previously before going the cutout route with stock mufflers. Nice cheap setup and kept me 'legal'.
