Decided to put a couple miles on the old girl over Christmas and New years, my brother and I decided to go on a trip and and hit up some major cites. We left the day after Christmas and headed from Chicago to St. Louis, stopped there a few hours and headed down to Dallas after that. We spent a day in Dallas and moved on to Houston, and the next day Galveston Island. After that it was on to New Orleans for the new year and back up to Chicago, a total of 2,494 miles. She did well, on winter mix averaging 24mpg. All in all 37hrs of driving haha. We had a great time, got a few pictures that I'll be sure to update this post with soon enough!

Would love to take my car on a long trip like that. Haven't driven more then 250 miles one way in my Aurora yet. Coming up on 3 years of owning it though. I did drive 1,200 miles in a week though. Getting close to 84,000 miles on mine.

It says alot about your car and the confidence you have in its ability to handle that trip. Love my car, but me..not so much.

I wasn't worried about her at all haha, aired up the tires, oil was still pretty fresh, made sure the coolant was good to go, and I was off.

Sorry about that haha, I'll try and remember to post some tonight. My brother and I just wanted to take a trip, always wanted to see Texas and he wanted to see the ocean. We both figured Bourbon street in New Orleans would be a place to be for New Years haha.

Nice trip
I would like to say that I'm planning a trip but the reality is I'm really just wanting to go. I hope to put it in the planning stage by this time next year.
I live in Indiana and I want to drive my Aurora north into Canada then west to the Pacific Ocean then staying close to the ocean to southern California then east to Alabama then north back home.
I think it sounds great seeing as how I like to drive and I have the perfect car.
I will put a satellite radio in 1st though.

Cincinnatti zoo, Write Patterson, the NFL Hall of Fame, Dawes amd Rowe Botanical gardens. Think it was Zanesville in the south east and Wheeling also. I wanted to hit some hilly back roads but am not very familiar with the state.

I have roughly followed (as far as the US Interstates do) the path that Lewis & Clark did, through S. Dakota & out to Oregon. On the return trip, we went down to S. California & back across to Texas... It was pretty cool, but th California-N. Mexico-Arizona leg has some desert parts that would be very very scary for a break-down, for Me. It was 1999, but gas prices in some places there were 2-3x what we were paying, back home. I can't begin to imagine what car repair(s) or a tow might cost, or how big the cellular dead-zones are. Our trip car was 2 years old, & we didn't have cellular phones, so these weren't issue. If/when you get around to actually planning your trip, you'll naturally want your powertrain & a/c to be running pretty tight. I'd say do the desert in Winter, but that might get you into trouble, in Canada. You could also to the desert driving at night, sleep in a hotel (in a/c) during the day. If you like night-driving, on low-traffic roads, it'd be pretty nice.

I would be concerned about the desert heat. My car works acceptably in StLouis heat but even though I don't get a warning light at stops above 90 the temp climbs to 225 and the oil pressure dropps to 7 or 8. Who knows how she'd handle 115 in Phoenix.
Maybe its just a combination of silly cooling fan settings and a car which sat for awhile.

My thoughts are to leave mid September that way the Canada portion should be before the winter weather hits. Then it should be early October before I get down to the Arizona heat. I'm old and fearless lol.

That same trip, we came through Willamette Pass in Oregon, in August. They had just cleared it (within a week or so) of 15 feet of snow. (Just a caution, FYI.) I really couldn't tell you if the route you are talking about, in Canada, would be as bad or worse.
