Many of us on this site like to tinker, so for those that maybe aren't aware...RS is closing most of their stores after declaring bankruptcy last week. Most of these stores are clearancing out their ENTIRE stock, including fixtures. They are not wasting any time liquidating these locations. The one right by my work is at 75% off, the other on the way home ranges from 30 - 70%. I literally grabbed as much as I could carry last night. Bulbs, batteries, soldering gear, wire, fuses, etc. Plus some scanner radio gear...all 75% off. On a different note, while RS lost their way years ago I used to absolutely love going there as a kid and into my teens. It was THE place to get replacement parts or just stuff to tinker with. The Internet obviously changed all that but it's sad to see it go. RIP, Radio Shack.

Every time I went to Radioshack I always knew more about the item I needed than the employee did. Half the time having to resort to a visual description of it so they'd know what I was talking about. Did like their soldering stuff though.

In recent years I only went there if I needed something same day. Like solder or flux for example. They turned into a cell phone store somewhere along the way. Dwindling hobbyists from Made in China throw away stuff and online retailers for certain took a toll. Love me some DigiKey though.

RIP Radio Shack.

About half their stores will be rebranded as SprinT stores. A major move by Sprint to try to recover some lost ground. Supposedly the other half are supposed to either sell out/ rename with sprint or stay open. I do know that radio shack would have went bankrupt and lost all if not for Sprint. I have been reading about this for months. It's very sad. Just bought a few things there this past holiday season.
