Hey everyone,
I've had a problem with my 2001 3.5L for about a year where when I unlock the driver side door with my key, it sets the car alarm off. This happens about 1/6 times I do it. I haven't had a key fob for over 4 years for the car so I can't test with anything other than unlocking the specific door or the passenger side. It tends to go through rough patches, where it happens much more often for a week and then goes two weeks without doing it a single time.
It may be worth mentioning that my DIC hasn't worked since I could remember and my horn is also very weak. Maybe they're connected in some way? Loose wiring or blown fuse maybe? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Looks like the car thinks that the door was open from inside after long time and it assumes that some one trying to brake in.

Sounds like an intermittent connection in the door lock actuator. This is where the CTD system gets the unlock signal when using a key.

My 1998 Aurora has the factory installed alarm. My driver side door actuator will not work with the FOB.All other doors work. I have asked and looked everywhere and basically there is no replacement for this actuator. And apparently you cannot disable the alarm and get some other actuator as the alarm system is tied into the computer and your car would not work if the alarm is disabled. I love the car but this lack of parts including not being able to get replacement reveal molding is a major set back.

I see most of the ones on rockauto say not for anti-theft or whatever. I;d have to look at the pinout in th FSM.

I haven't had a key fob for over 4 years for the car Have you thought about getting a replacement? That would be less hassle and might solve the problem with remote activation. Then again, the actuator signal might still be weak/malfunctioning regardless of how the door is opened (manually with key, or with remote keyfob).

I never found it that inconvenient that I didn't have one, and honestly didn't know I could get another one since the code wouldn't be the same. Still it might be worth checking out.

The Classic Auroras were a lot easier to replace keyfobs... just one FCC ID to match (there were only 2-3 options for each model year) and the control port could be overridden with a jumper wire to program the remote easily. 2nd-Gens have a couple extra steps involved no doubt.
