2g exhaust ?s

I'm in a mixed decision on what to do with my exhaust...I either want to replace the resonator with a glass pack and straight pipe it or straight pipe into some flowmasters. My question is which setup would create a deeper sound?

Both I don't want it deafening loud I just want it to have that deep tone too it

I would go electronic cutout with either some Corsa mufflers or flow master (not deep tone ones) mufflers.

I have Corsa mufflers and resonator center muffler and it's just right. Sometimes I wish it was deeper (driving around town) but definitely not for highway driving.

As in other threads I wouldn't hesitate to recommend an exhaust cutout and keep OEM mufflers. On demand muffler delete. Thrush Welded are a good budget alternative to 40 series. Here is a video with no resonator and thrush welded muffler on Classic 4.0L.

Could anybody tell me who ran a muffler delete setup if so what size and length of piping did you use in place of the muffler? Planning on doing this setup this weekend

I paid a muffler shop to chop mine off, $50 to replace both mufflers with straight pipes. I found an '06 DTS I may be getting the exhaust off of, so I may be going back to mufflers for a while.

Yeah not sure, the shop did it for me, but after the "y" pipe it is only 1.75" and pre "y" it is 2.5" I believe.

The exhaust is 2.5" until after the resonator. From resonator to Y is 2.25". From Y to mufflers is 1.875". After muffler to before the tips is 1.75".


PS if you have vehicle inspections in Indiana you will fail with no mufflers.

There is no vehicle inspections in Indiana I've ran straights on one of my old trucks I used to have. And I'm trying figure out how long the stock mufflers are to get a general idea on pipe length to get because I'm not having a shop do it since I work in one. So I have access to tools and a welder. And Yes I know how to weld too probably not the best though but I'll get the job done

If I remember right the mufflers are 15" , but that's me remembering measurements from 2009 so take that with a grain of salt haha

the Corsa system sounds great, but might be spendy or hard to find. Any good exhaust shop should be able to install a couple Flowmaster mufflers and new tips. that will make a big difference alone.

I was lucky on my Corsa. Found a Deville system on Craigslist for $150. I didn't even bother haggling on the price. New Corsa tips cost me an extra $50.
