I had a garage replace the complete strut assemblies today (2001 Aurora) but now the front of car is 3-4" taller? Is this normal?
Thanks,

Well, new springs can give you a little bump in ride height, especially if the old ones were shot. 4" is not normal.
May be the wrong assembly for your '01. At the very least, take it back and inquire.

Do you know which strut assemblies were used? A part number from the place you had it installed would help a lot!

The shop said it would "settle down" in a couple hundred miles, I'd never heard of that? It's probably not 4", but a good 2-3". Is it possible to install a strut assembly wrong to make it taller?

No, but possible to install the wrong strut assembly and change the ride height. Springs will settle a bit but not that much. I can't see an original coil spring compressing that much either. Another possibility is that the coil springs taken off were Eibach lowering coil springs.

If a previous owner put lowering springs on, the change would be dramatic to you but may not be that far off stock ride height. Just for kicks, find some flat ground and measure from the center of the wheel straight up to the fender lip. We'll compare notes, lol!

Do you have a picture of how it sits now?
Wobble on take off might be CV Joint, outer tie rods, inner tie rods, ball joint, sway bar end links....many possibilities. Check strut bolts under the hood to make sure they are tight. Could also be a transmission issue.

Hard to see in the pic on my phone but that's 30"? It's actually not far off. Before I lowered my car the front end was right around 29".
Did you measure before the new assemblies went in? They must have been totally shot from your OP description. That or you just threw away some hard to find lowering springs...
Just to make sure you are running OEM spec wheels/tire combo or equivalent?

They might of been pretty shot, 150k miles on OEM struts. yep, standard tires/wheel sizes.

The struts I used showed a different coil configuration, but ride height is still the same...
