Anyone did this? Just found (and bought) a 2002 Aurora navigation radio on eBay. The main connector is the same between the Bose and Navigation unit, but it definitely looks like I will also need a GPS antenna... Any suggestion?

Two issues: 1) Got the radio, but it is locked... because of the VIN being incompatible between my car and the radio. This will require some investigation. Or a trip to the dealer.... see aurorah.proboards.com/thread/4363 2) GM parts direct will not ship an antenna to Canada. Or, their website has a bug preventing the order to complete.

The radio has to be programed with TECH2 to unlock it. You want me to ship it to u?

Thanks for the offer. GMpartsdirect finally shipped to Canada, just had to take an arrangement. Will get the antenna soonish, will install it, but no need for it. I'll be happy to have it installed if I ever find a navigation CD. Right now, GPS signal is strong enough to auto-adjust the clock. Yeah... so my GM dealer did the unlock on the radio. They charged half an hour, which is a whooping 37$. I gladly paid it.

2003 Cadillac CTS GPS CD will work with the Aurora. I got CD 11, part no. 25744271 / D6J138R. Covers the main cities of Canada (Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal). Works fine in an Oldsmobile....! Assuming it's true also for all US regions for the same car. There are a few of them for sale on eBay...

I think I'm gonna have to get a wood shift knob. That looks better than the splash screen...

Cool and all for a factory addition but is very dated tech. How accurate are the maps now? Can still use a FM modulator or similar to listen music through the radio though.

Maps are okay in urban areas. I have my Android phone as a backup for newer parts of the cities I visit, as well as for rural areas, which are not covered at all by the CD I bought.
I have seen someone adding an audio jack input to a GM radio... maybe it was here?

Can't beat that. I like having the 'AURORA' splash/boot screen on mine when the CarPC loads. Yes, I believe that was Nelson who did it on the 2G. I'd go for that option SQ wise. However, it probably hasn't been tried on the nav unit but I would expect it to be similar.
