It was on Tuesday last week, when a friend of mine asked me to drive her parents to Puck the following day - I was kinda surprised as it's over 450 kms one way but after all, I had those couple days off with no plans for going anywhere, so I thought I might be useful for them and take some rest at the sea at the same time
I haven't actually seen the sea in two years! So I drove my friend's parents where they needed to get, we left at 4 am, which meant that by 9 am I was basically free to go.
I decided to do it the old fashioned way - instead of using GPS, I took a proper map (which in fact was about 10 years old, which made it rather outdated
), grabbed a CD of my favorite band (and a couple others
) and the amazing analog camera that I recently found - a "Kiev 19" from 1986:

I wanted to see the Hel peninsula which was really close to Puck and I've never actually been there. It's quite a narrow one:

Before I left Puck though, I was told that it's quite a nice small town itself - here are a couple pics round the old town for you:

It was starting to rain, so I decided to leave Puck behind and go see Hel! On the way to it's very end, I was trying to get as close to the water as possible to take a nice picture with it behind the Aurora - my first stop was in ChaĆupy, where I stumbled across some wind and kitesurfers
Analog pics first:

Man I love the grain on these
Sorry for the "scratches" though - I scan the films myself and rarely care enough to keep them clean
I also took my digital camera in case I wanted to take a billion pictures, so here's a couple more:

I always like comparing the size of the Aurora to European cars
It does literally stand out:

As you may have noticed, the weather started to get better. I do have to say, I just love that road along the seaside - it's also cool that there's a railroad to the very end of the peninsula!

My next stop was in Jastarnia, as during my search of nice picture-with-a-water-background place, I noticed that:

This has got to be a '68 if I'm not mistaken, huh? Would've also matched the 327 it had... Seems like it's been there for quite some time. Not gonna bore you with too many pics - just a few

As the sun was really starting to shine, I decided to go to the beach and do some swimming! Surprisingly I managed to find a parking spot big enough for the Aurora on one of these tiny streets and didn't even have to pay for it
Had to take a pic

And here's my whole luggage that I took to my Grand Tourer
I tell you - these cars are made for that! Just get in in the morning, drive a couple hundred miles, go swimming, skiing, racing, jumping, whatever you want - and get back home in the evening
It doesn't get much better than that!

The cool thing about Jastarnia is that the harbor area is open for cars - so I went there and finally managed to take a pic with the sea in the background!
A bunch of them - of course:

From Jastarnia I went straight to the town of Hel and actually did just a quick walk around the old army places and the harbor. BTW the road to there is terrific - it leads through a wood and all the sharp corners in there made me appreciate Aurora's handling. It's obviously far from small European cars, but when you lock the transaxle in 2nd, you do almost get the impression of driving a sports car with all the noise you hear while breaking
Can't really get to much of it
And the throttle response is pretty amazing too, when you already have the gear ready!
Couple pics from Hel:

There's one more nice thing between Jastarnia and Hel - a narrow track train railway. Not sure if you have that in the States? Basically everything is much smaller
Right now they mostly use it for tourists I guess, it's more popular in the mountains though, where there's not much space for a full size train. These are all analog pics:

Just one more pic with the sea (on the "inner" side of the peninsula):

On my way back I spotted a Cadillac which I first though would be an SLS similar to mine (because of the wheels and 4 exhaust tips) - turned out to be an STS though

And a few pics from my way back home - I chose the back roads instead of the highway this time. Took me more time, was much more pleasant though!

Getting out of the highway also means getting stuck in traffic - that's when a rainbow appeared though! I was heading south-east so the view in my mirrors was properly amazing in the later afternoon
Especially with the sunset reflecting in the wet road (just after rain). The pictures don't show it right at all.

And I hit the 200k km mark!

This was the longest trip I've had with my "new" Aurora so far (over 1000 km on one day) and I have to say it did just great! No overheating, no no-starting, the climate control worked perfectly, the ride was super comfortable, did have a bit of shake at higher speeds, that's solved already though (it was both tie rod ends worn and wheels not being perfectly balanced), the only thing that worries me is the traction control/ABS light that keeps getting on and the TC pump getting on even before I start the engine. I think it's got to be something with the wiring as I had a colleague connect it to the computer and it didn't see the ABS module at all... I shall have that diagnosed next Friday when I could leave him the car for longer.
Other than that though - she runs just so great! I couldn't be happier that I found this car - I'm in love
Again
