Hey everyone, I am having battery related issues and am in the market for a new battery. I currently have a 6-year ACDelco 770 Cold-Cranking Amp, 115 minute Reserve Capacity side terminal battery. None of the auto stores near me have anything remotely similar to this battery so I have a few questions for you all. Would my best option be to search for a top terminal(more common than side terminal) battery with a ±10% difference in the CCA rating compared to the current battery and purchase these side to top terminal adapters www.walmart.com/ip/Everstart-925W-Everstart-Side-Terminal-Adapters/16006685 ? Also, this adapter seems sketchy. If it is rated at 925 Watts, that means it can take 925W/12V ≈ 77Amps of electricity. This doesn't seem right if the battery amperages are rated in the hundreds while cranking the starter. Thanks in advance!

My experience: I have bought replacement batteries for the 2G both at Batteries Plus and at the nearest Cadillac dealership (a little more costly than Batteries Plus in my case.) The Cadillac dealership replaced a faulty battery at around 1 month, no questions asked, no charge (no pun intended).

Thanks guys! I didn't think of Batteries Plus for car batteries and my local store even had that exact one in stock.

I've had that exact battery in my '01 since January. 36 month free/65 month pro-rated replacement for $100!?! I couldn't beat that around here, no problems so far.

Yeah Autozone was about to charge me about $180 for a Duralast that they didn't even have in stock. I hope Battery Plus doesn't go out of business anytime soon.

For the record a top post battery will fit under the back seat, but in all honesty I don't think it will fit exactly if it's not a group 78 battery.
I have a 34/78 under my back seat. Side posts hook up to the car factory wiring and top posts go to my aux battery in the trunk for the audio system.
Oh yeah, grab an AGM battery not a wet cell.

Oh yeah, grab an AGM battery not lead acid. Think you mean not a wet cell. They're all lead acid.

1. Carquest still carries the battery. Sadly, it's about $140, unless you're me, or a student of my negotiating techniques.
2. Sorry, tigger, but DO NOT buy a Duracell car battery. My entire family got them two years ago for our three vehicles. Two had to be replaced within three months. The third was in my TrailBlazer, which was repo'd.

The third was in my TrailBlazer, which was repo'd. Why? Almost a year on the one in the Olds, 3+ on the one in the GMC, no problems with either. Besides, they carry a 3 year free/65 month prorated replacement warranty. What else do you want for a hundred bucks, lol!

Duracell is just a re-brand sticker. The Duracells are made by East Penn/Deka IRRC. I run Exide AGMs. Group 78 and group 34 aux in my Aurora. Before those I typically used Johnson Control batteries.

honestly, I wouldn't mess with the adapters. I would go the extra mile to find the correct battery. Also I would never go with a Walmarts "Neverstart" battery ever again. They're garbage! I have an Autozone AGM battery that's been great and has a good warranty. My other rigs have an optimal and a Duracell. All work great

what about the battery vents? i'd worry about these if I were to replace the battery with some other battery that's not meant to be inside the cabin.

Sealed AGM batteries are fine in an enclosed space.

Just a note if you have a 'Rural King' store you can get rebranded exide agms for about $30 less than retail exide agm.

Evening, If ur still looking for that battery, i was able to find mine @ O'reily autoparts for around $110.00 . You can also check out NAPA auto. Also, make sure the battery has side vents on it.
