Have the annoying flashing light problem, cleaning the mf switch did not remedy the problem. I'm going to grab a junkyard switch, anyone know if all years are compatible?

I wish there was a good way to restore them and the labels... all the used ones I see are crap looking but probably functional.

Exactly right, this one looks so junky compared to my original, but I can live with it for now because functionality is paramount haha. The hazard "triangle" is rubbed off, the headlight options, and some of the cruise lettering, and the set button on the end of the stalk for the cruise control is so worn it turned grey. Definitely not pretty. I could PROBABLY figure a way to transfer the plastic off of mine, but I'm not going to risk screwing anything up by messing with it.

Do you have any plans for the one you took out? If not I will pay shipping for it if you haven't tossed it out! PM me if you please.

Hi- New to the boards. I have a 1999 Aurora. I'm the 2nd owner. Bought it used in 2007 with 55k miles now has 163k miles. Just passed Pennsylvania State Inspection. Has relatively new Hankook tires. Everything has been maintained and is working fine. EXCEPT this tricky multi function switch.
I'm not a mechanic but I've had the car serviced since I bought it at a Cadillac dealer (where I bought it). They have taken good care of me. The problem is this multi function switch OEM part #19259796 is discontinued. I checked eBay and no luck. I saw the other post about the DIY process but no way would I be able to do it. The main headlights are ok. Its the auxiliary lights that flicker and this morning my battery was dead.
Should I try calling around to scrap/junk yards? I would hate to lose this Aurora (which overall runs like a champ!) because of something as minor as a multi-function switch. Any help or advice would be MUCH appreciated!!!

This is a pic of my car as recent as 2 weeks ago!! It's in great shape. My Aurora is on the left (obviously) I had to snap a pic of that Jurassic Park Jeep next to me. Hence the recent photo

Try picknpull.com that's where I got mine. You can see if one is near you and even if they have an Aurora all online. Otherwise yes I suggest you call around. I only paid $25 for mine. Isn't the easiest thing to install but it isn't impossible either. It's just time consuming.

Also keep checking eBay because I saw one on there just the other day. Alternatively, you can unplug the left connector on the LCM. Under the dash, remove the black plastic kick guard on bottom (3 screws), to the left of the steering column (near the emergency brake)you will see two boxes mounted vertically to a plastic bracket back to back with connectors facing the floor, the box on the right (if looking towards the front of the car) is the LCM. If you unplug the left connector, lights wont flash. The switch will also be non-functional except for the turn signal and flash to pass features. I/e if you need to drive at night you'll have to plug it back in while you drive, but is normal functioning during the day.
Clearly not a permanent solution, but it will get you buy until you can locate a switch.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm looking on picknpull.com right now! I also appreciate the 2nd follow-up tip. In the interim I did test drive today a 2003 Aurora. 1 owner, 53k miles. Clean Car Fax. When I say this car was mint I mean it was mint. Am I opening up a whole new can of worms if I flip my 99 Aurora for an 03 Aurora? Obviously it will cost me out of pocket $$ also. Thanks in advance!!

Cleaning it out is pretty easy. All you really need to do is pull the boot back. Just have to know what you are looking for! Worth a shot before buying another potentially used non working one.

Absolutely agree, if you haven't tried cleaning it out yet check this thread out aurorah.proboards.com/thread/23492You don't have to disassemble the column as Sall said, just pull the rubber boot back and you can see the "holes" referenced in the steps. It worked for me for about 3 years, this time around cleaning didn't work, that's the only reason I replaced it. As far as another Aurora...I wouldn't replace it if you are happy with yours (other than this problem)I haven't owned a 2nd gen, but I have driven one and ridden in one and I have to say I think I much prefer the classic.
