Hi,
I'd had some problems with my changer, so I put a cleaner CD in the magazine. It played fine, did the cleaning cycle, and then asked me to sit back and enjoy the horrifcally bad jazz music.
I tried to eject the magazine by opening the changer door. Nothing happened. I tried switching the head unit back to FM, then opened the door. Still, nothing happened.
Is there a step I'm missing somewhere, or is this just a coincidental failure? And if it is that, is it more likely the magazine or the changer itself?

Well, now I know. When I finally did get the magazine to eject, the cleaner CD had two huge divots cut into it.
The bad news is, God knows how I'm going to find a better-working changer in a boneyard. The good news is, this should be an easy DIY swap if I do...

Sorry to hear that, and that I didn't see this when you originally posted it.
Mine wouldn't eject when we first got the car. A little help from a flat screwdriver solved that. Blew it out with compressed air, and it's ejected, cycled and played fine ever since.
Cleaner CDs kind of scare me, but I realize sometimes that's the only remaining option. You said the music played on the cleaner CD, have you tried another (regular) CD? But then again, if it scored the cleaner CD, I'd try one I didn't mind losing...
IIRC, Pontiac Bonnevilles and Buick LeSabres (2000-2005?) used the same changer. So, a couple more options at the boneyard.

CDs ... how primitive! <G>
Worse comes to worse and you can't fix or replace the deck, I got a PIE GM10-AUX adapter for mine and hooked up an HD Radio tuner instead. Plugs right in to the same connection the CD deck used. I did need to run an RCA cable up front for the tuner section.
Worked with an outboard XM head as well. Select it on the radio like you would the deck. I also made a filler plate for where the ash tray went and velcro'd that in, then stuck the tuner to that. Ash tray door even closes yet.

So if he has a Pioneer, that should work in the 2G, right? My magazine is Pioneer...(pause to check) the changer isn't marked as Delco, so I'm guessing Pioneer as well.

I've got Bose in the 1996 and it's the same changer you posted both times. Delco electronics changer. Maybe they were used interchangably, or ran out of stock on the Delcos and stuck Pioneers in some? I dunno. Probably only a couple people at GM know the reason why, and they've forgotten by now.

Delco = Pioneer. In this case.

Delco = Pioneer. In this case. Yeah, kinda figured, Pioneer made a boatload of equipment for GM. I know they made the NAV radios, pretty sure they had the contract for OnStar boxes as well.
