That's excellent, I've never seen one of those either. That's awesome.

Haha, I knew someone would figure it out eventually! I've had kids in school since 1994, no shortage of discarded book bags here. I use them for everything! Tool bag, first aid kit, roadside bag, guns/ammo, you name it. Of course, some of my daughter's had to be painted, lol!
I don't have one that nice though...

That would be PERFECT for junkyard trips. As of now I have a Craftsman what I call "doctor bag" haha and then the ratchet set. Quite cumbersome to carry around.

Going to go check it out at Sears this evening. Supposedly have some in stock. I don't do many junkyard trips anymore but would be ideal for that too! Primarily because any time I feel like going or need to the place is a muddy mess.

I'll probably ask for one of these for Christmas. Like you I don't think I'll be headed to the junkyard much anymore (hopefully, anyway!) but it would be great to have. I've got a doctor bag (lol Rob) and one of those gigantic husky bags, but that thing is a pain to carry around because it gets so heavy!

I've got the 'doctor bag' style from Craftsman too. Just like this one: Holds plenty but can get heavy. Really like the backpack idea though, esp. at the 'yard! Speaking of...if you want a backpack, grab one now -- they are on clearance all over the place now that school's back. 50-75% off at my local Target.

I like the "purse" style ones with a shoulder strap.
The newest thing I have is a fishing style tackle box with some plastic plano boxes to keep my tools organized inside.

Planning to get another SUV/X-Over for winter driving. Meant to add this yesterday... Not sure what you're looking to spend but if you'd like to stick with Olds, there's always the Bravada! The "orphan brand" thing must have really hit these hard...clean latest generation (2002+) trucks can be found in my area for $3-5K all day. The newer ones are on the GMT360 platform, which was shared between the Envoy, Trailblazer, Rainier, etc. so no worry about parts. I had an '02 Envoy for 10 yrs and it was great. Still miss it. Reliable and when it did break, parts were cheap and it was easy to work on. The I6 was good for 270hp and was a great engine.

I have tried to find a good condition low mileage last gen Bravada to no avail . Like the GMC Acadia a lot right now. Bought the backpack last night and got some tools in it already. Will be the go to grab bag.

My dad's wife has an Acadia Denali, she likes it a lot. It's really comfortable, pretty spacious too. The V6 doesn't have a whole lot of power but fine for a daily driver for sure. I'm sure you would like it.
Glad to hear the bag is a good one. I'll have to pick up one myself. Is it large enough to fit a good spread of tools in an organized manner in your opinion?

I've been using a regular backpack as a toolbag for years now. I've had the doctor style bag for a while, but it gets heavy, and I tend to be lazy. Started shoving the tool bag into an old backpack many moons ago out of laziness, but actually it just started making sense. Now, when I go to the yard, I use the backpack, and leave the bigger tool bag in the car unless I find something that I need. Just take the basics in with me (screwdrivers, pliers, adjustable wrench, 7mm, 10mm, 13mm, 15mm, 19mm, small pry bar). 90% of anything I want or need can be pulled with just those tools.

While you're at it, these are handy. Just slap one or two down on a fender while you're working a junkyard. It's not like you're worried about scratching the paint. <G> PS ... take a REAL man to carry one of these!

It fits plenty of tools, Collins. You can check out this thread here to get an idea. www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185789Certainly using a plain old backpack works, but doesn't keep the tools organized. Whatever method works for the end user I suppose. I won't knock any method that gets the job done! Skizo, what is a welding magnet handy for besides welding and picking up metallic things? I'll pass on the hello kitty. I'll leave that to my niece.

Oh, all sorts of stuff ... The electrical box cover is handy for loose screws and such as well. Got a big job? More magnets!! It actually works better with a couple magnets and a wide piece of flat strapping between them. PS ... the spring clip holders for sockets are nice too. I had a couple magnetic ones as well, but it was just way too easy to knock the sockets off.

It fits plenty of tools, Collins. You can check out this thread here to get an idea. Wow, that's pretty impressive. That's good enough for anything you would need to do at a junkyard for sure. If you're needing to do something more in depth you probably wouldn't be working out of a bag anyway, you'll need the stuff that only fits in a toolbox. I like it! I'll have to grab one myself.
