Can it be done? Can the whole roof be swapped? Is there a plug for the electrical in a non-equipped car? This wont be anytime soon, just gathering info. Also, others may be interested. I did some searches but really didn't find an answer to this. Can the roof be removed at the over the roof molding and one with a sunroof installed in it's place? I see no other reason for this apparent seam other than to either make the roof modular for easier assembly line production, or to swap for a damaged one for accident repair and less chance of totalling the car. Not sure if this belongs in interior or exterior since it involves components of both.

There are a lot of shops that will do this. Google "sunroof installation" to find one.

I think the "factory" part is important due to the complexity of the roof panel. Then again, rather than replacing the entire roof, I'd just cut a border around the donor car's sunroof, and tack weld that in place. Wiring shouldn't be all that difficult, and I imagine you'd be able to cut your existing roof trim to fit. Hardest part might be the inner trim. Not sure if the roof trim uses foam backed material like the pillar covers ... I do know the foam turns to dust over time and can really look shabby if you manhandle it. Not sure if I'd want to tackle recovering that. Here's a winter project for me ... the pillar covers got more wrinkles than me after removing the rear deck for a dye job. Lucky the Aurora doesn't have a disappearing panel like my Pontiac SSE ... that gets REAL busy behind the curtain.

I do like my sunroof.
Man I owned some cars with poorly installed aftermarket sunroofs back in the day.

Still some nice kits out there if you take the time to do it right. Here's one I put in my little toy truck ... Technically, a moon roof ... so shoot me! <G>

Even if you get an aftermarket power sunroof, you can always use an Aurora overhead console from a car that originally had a sunroof - then you have the switches to operate the sunroof.
