I think this is something really missing on Aurora's -- underhood lighting. Was this an option that my car is missing, or was it never available for any Aurora? I installed one from a 2000-ish Cadillac.

That's like a refrigerator light ... how do you know it's going off when the hood's closed? <G> 'Twere me, I think I'd go with LED lighting. Couple strings around the perimeter would be some real razzle dazzle ... extra shizzle for yer dissle if it's color changing and sound active ...

I installed a LED underhood lamp in my Classic. Simple 5000k 15 LED weatherproof rigid LED strip. Ha! I may have to install one across the STB

We'll, since there's this awesome battery-drain protection, the lights could be on all the time Very nice LED setup - I would go that way, but I'm much more a OEM kind of person. Which is why I used this Cadillac thing... That's like a refrigerator light ... how do you know it's going off when the hood's closed? <G> 'Twere me, I think I'd go with LED lighting. I agree, always felt this was something the aurora was missing. I'll even add a second one on the driver side. I have that on my other car (1984 Cutlass) and I like it.

Don't forget the reflective blue flame job on the glass ... Oh. And reflective blue dragons on the rear glass? Wahoo!! <G> You may ask what any of that has to do with under hood lighting ... Nothing! Absolutely nothing!! AHAHAHHAAAAAA!!

Too bad there isn't a trunk light, as well....
(I jest. One of the hundred bad things the previous owner did to mine was to mess with the rear speakers. Somehow the trunk light got involved, all the wiring is wrapped together in electrical tape, and I haven't had the courage or time to try to sort it out yet. But it really sucks when the wife only ever wants to go to the grocery store at night.)

Haha yeah. Functional trunk lighting. Got that to too. Same deal. Stock light and location sucks.

Something I'm planning to do to my Aurora that I had done previously to my Cutlass Supreme, go to the junkyard and get just about any underhood light from almost any car (I grab W-body ones since they are plentiful). Pop off the cover, and remove the little ball thing that makes the light come on with the hood open, then bend the contacts so that its always on. Install it on the underside of the speaker deck, then wire it into the latch switch on the trunk latch assembly (I added the little switch to my Cutlass Supreme, but the Aurora already has it for the trunk ajar for the DIS). Wired up that way you get a LOT more light inside the trunk, and it turns off when the trunk is shut. You modify it close to where the connector is On my Cutlass Supreme, I mounted it close to the edge of the trunk lid. That was almost dead center, and it had this thick support bar that I could tap into without risking going into the speaker deck itself. Light mounted with 2 7mm screws, and lens back in place, just need to run the wires and wire it up. This is the light switch I added to my Cutlass Supreme. There are several different ones. Some are 1 or 2 wire with it self grounded through the mounting screw. Some are 3 wire with one of the wires being a ground, etc. If you want it on a separate circuit from the DIS's warning, then you could look for one of the 2 or 3 wire ones to add it in (not sure what the Aurora has since I've not gotten around to doing this yet. Light on and working BEFORE: AFTER (yes, I know my trunk was a mess at the time): I would also like to add, you can find this style of light in older W-bodies (1989-1991). The light is retractable, but you have to use the wheel thingie to roll it back in. Just watch out because some of them the light comes on automatically with the hood opened, and some have an on/off switch. I've seen in some Chevy trucks the same style light, but with an auto retractor where you pull the cord and it comes back in. Not sure about the truck one, but on the Cutlass, the light itself has a magnet on the back so you can stick it to the body. The light cord was also REALLY long. Long enough to go from the engine compartment all the way back to the trunk easily.
