I'll be installing my double din head unit soon but I need to know which adapters I need to make it plug and play into the factory harness (I believe I have the Bose system due to having speakers in the rear doors, correct me if I'm wrong) and if possible the harness for the steering wheel controls to work. If you have links and our part numbers that would be allot of help. Thanks guys and gals!!!

Plug in your year and model (it will ask you if you have bose or not) and www.crutchfield.com will tell you what harness and module you need to make everything work. That's what I did to find mine and they worked perfectly. I would let you know the model numbers myself but I don't have them off the top of my head. Let us know if that link works for you!

If you want to retain the door chimes you will need a more expensive harness. Someone with this harness can chime in. It is GMOS something or other IIRC. Otherwise the plain jane aftermarket wire harness is ~$10 or less. I would go with a Metra dash kit. Again easy to find searching for make/model on website. Antenna Adapter is here.Since you have Bose you will need to use the aftermarkets deck to turn on the Bose amp. HTH.

To turn on the factory amp and an aftermarket amp as well could I just cut into the amp signal power and run it to both? Sounds like I'll still be cutting and splicing the wires in the factory harness...

On mine I turned on the aftermarket amp with the antenna power. Since the antenna power cycles with the radio, this worked perfectly and the wire was already run to the trunk and I didn't have to splice into any amp wiring. My aftermarket amp was on the passenger side, so it was a nice short run.

Most newer headunits only power the antenna when the tuner is active. Which is a savior on the first gen so you don't look like an RC car all the time when the headunit is on.

I have a 2Gen "Rora", i got ALL my stereo equip. from Amazon, my car also has the Bose System.....to make it all come together i got the "Pac C2rgm32r" 32 pin w/chime, this is what you will need to "mate" any aftermarket radio to your "rora". And man let me tell you, it will WAKE ur interior up!.

P.S. Don't forget the steering wheel control adaptor...it's available @ Amazon as well. As for the factory amp, the "Pac" aftermarket kit i mention above takes care of that also. I have a Sony head unit, man it rocks in my Aurora!.

You don't need that harness at all. You need it if you want to retain chimes.

Im trying to retain factory amp..not too concerned about warninhs and chimes but if i can great. So what your saying is the harness you mention allows me to use factory amp? I dont need to unplug anything abd plug something else in other than behind the radio stuff?

As for the radio being Bose system or not, if the wire harness for the back of the head unit (radio), looks like a wire ribbon, yes its a bose system you have in ur Aurora. Either way, the "Pac" harness controls the Amp as well.

Also, you WILL need to add a steering contol unit as well in addition to the "Pac Unit" to make the steering contols work....as found on the Amazon site.

New to how forums work, there, mm? What I mean by that is you don't need to add a new post every time you think of something else. Just edit the post. (maybe "Edit" isn't available to new members below a certain post count, so apologies if I'm coming across gruff, but post-after-post-after-post at the same time is generally considered poor "netiquette.") But your information was good. there's that! On the original question about adapters, the Bose system is non-standard in impedance, and inter-connects. Its speakers are very low impedance, so replacing the Bose amp with aftermarket generally means replacing speakers, too. An amp expecting 4 ohms, or even just 2 ohms, can overheat when driving the factory Bose speakers. Connections between the factory head unit and the amp are not two-conductor cables with a plus and minus, they are two phases with a shared ground, i.e. three wires, making a balanced input on the amp. That's the biggest reason you really need an adapter; to convert the unbalanced outputs of the aftermarket head unit to balanced inputs to the Bose amp. If you rip out the Bose stuff, amp, speakers, and all, then it's just any custom audio build, but adapting an aftermarket head unit only is not that straightforward. I'm not aware of exactly what goes through the factory radio in the 2nd-gen, obviously chimes in your case. I know in the classic, the serial data bus for HVAC goes through the radio, and the radio supplies the date to the information computer in the dash; without the factory radio there is no steering wheel control of the air conditioning, and without the radio's clock the date can't be set on the dash computer. I had to hide the factory radio in the space ahead of the ash tray under the dash so certain wires could remain connected to it and keep its clock running, and I had to get a PAC steering wheel adapter that understood that some of the buttons weren't for the radio but for the A/C, in addition to the PAC adapter for the audio conversion from head unit to Bose.

They guy at best buy didn't know anything about what he was talking about....a joke you could say. I have the bose ( speakers in all 4 doors, rear deck, cd changer.) as far as I'm aware that's the tell tale way to know. Did you need to trim the bezel around the radio much?

Yea, i had to make VERY small cuts yo the bottom left & right sides @ the curved sections... BTW, as far as "Bose" systems, look @ the rear deck speakers, mine has the bose labeling on their magnets.
