Has anyone ever came across a shifter that fits the Classic? Allowing the use of the release? Adding a switch for the 'power' mode is simple enough. I was contemplating a leather/vinyl boot and new shift handle.
Grand Prix GTP 97-03? seems like it may work.

93-97 Cadillac Seville offset T? You could boot it...
I liked it, probably in the minority though...

Ha, I thought those offset Ts were interesting. I like the look, but I did always wonder why they went with that style.

Might be in minority on that one there, Tigger! The the grand prix t handle looks a bit better. I picked up a 97-03 grand prix one for a couple bucks on eBay. See what I can come up with if it works properly.

Could I interest you in a different configuration? 1990 Cadillac Allante; notice the handle is turned 180 o and uses a thumb button. Anyway, good luck with your project and don't forget picture!

What I purchased is a 'cobra' style shifter. The T handle I saw in the grand prix was a swap from an '04 impala supposedly. There are probably many that fit((Bonneville, grand am, etc.) on shaft and will operate sans the 'power' button. Which can can be relocated easily as mentioned previously. I did see one cobra style with what seems to be a 'power' button on the side. Anyways the one I purchased was only a couple of bucks. Check it out on the parts car while I am removing the shifter surround.

Confirmed. The 97-03 grand prix shifter works. Now of course it isn't a stock replacement in itself. Now let's see if I end up doing anything with it . I pulled the shifter console from the parts car this morning. I have some ideas...
