For those of you that have a functioning A/C Control unit, but the lights burnt out. Well I did too haha. But! I finally got around to finding the correct bulbs WITH colored sleeves and then re-soldering them in place.
So Radio Shack have bulbs and there were other websites that have mini incadescent bulbs as well, however, finding a colored cover sleeve to place over the bulbs was difficult, since these companies didn't make them, you needed the bulb tip to bulb tip millimeter size and glass shape etc.... I'd order sleeves from one company to only find they didn't fit. So it was an ongoing annoyance. Also the bulbs were extremely small. The size is important b.c inside the AC Control unit, there is a rubber mat that is placed over the bulbs and keeps the buttons in position/ down etc... If the bulbs are too small, they sit too low and the light won't be directly behind the button. So light visibilty diminishes.
Inside our AC units, there are 5 incadescent bulbs in the unit, then a bunch of LED bulbs from left to right along the bottom. I only needed to change out the incadescent bulbs since my LEDs were fine.
The factory incadescent bulbs in there are a unique bulb. They are 12V, a T1 1/2 glass shape, G2.54 bi pin (meaning the spacing between the pins, so they fit in the circuit boards already made holes and then you can solder them up right there) and the bulb is 19mm tip to tip, which was the problem. B.c it's a long bulb. Usually they aren't this long and narrow. Well after searching and searching. I just couldn't find this bulb anymore.
Well BULBTOWN has their own #2174 12V incadescent 40Ma bulb. Although its not a size match tip to tip. It's bigger than the Radio Shack mini bulbs, fits in the rubber mat light bulb holes perfectly AND they sell the blue colored sleeves that fit on them. Also they arent bi-pin, they are wire so the wire can be cut and moved to fit in the circuit board holes easily. The other thing I noticed is the Milliamps are 40. So IMO the brightness is good, not too bright, not too low.
I soldered them up and put the unit back in the car. PERFECT. All buttons light great. It's a success. Pretty much every light in my AURORA is now working. The only thing left are the CD player buttons. Some have burnt out just the same. So I will use these bulbs and solder these guys in.
Just thought I'd share.
