I am now faced with no compression as my cam chain has failed after parking and trying to restart the car. I need someone with a book to tell me if this is an interference engine or not. If it is not interference i will fix it, but will be junking the car if it has smashed valves. Old wino! Rescue me!?

Update; Timing chain did not fail. The key on the crankshaft that drives the cam sprocket failed. Crankshaft turns without turning chain. Item 115 in photo. Monday will tell if its available from dealer.

nelson480,
If I'm looking at the 2001 FSM correctly, if the pin was sheared, then you shouldn't have any oil pressure as well, since the outer splines of the sprocket drive the gerotor oil pump. I'm rather surprised they would use that small pin to not only drive the camshafts but the oil pump as well.

Interesting. Did you find the sheered off key?
