500 pixel images in sigs

I see that a lot of members here have sigs with 500 pixel wide images.  I've tried wider ones than what my sig displays now and the board software wouldn't interpret them properly, so I gave up.

Just curious -- is this an option that is reserved for contributing members, or?

Hmm, I forget the actual image limitations on sigs. I usually upload my image to tiny pic and post the link in, haven't had any troubles.
