So yesterday my rearview mirror fell off and now its just hanging by the wires. I was wondering if there's a way to unplug it so its not hanging there.
Thanks

There sure is! There should be a four pin connector on the back, just push the tab (on the top or bottom) and it should pull right out. I had a 97 and later a 99 rearview mirror in my 96 Aurora, so I'm sure all the plugs should be the same between the years of Classics.
What happened (most likely) is that the little metal tab that is glued to your windshield came unglued. When this happened to me I just went to Oreilly and grabbed a tube of rearview mirror glue for a couple bucks and glued it back up there. Never had a problem with it after that.

The glue should come with a cleaning pad ... make sure you use that after scraping the area with a razor blade to remove any old stuff. I'd also let the puck set for a day so it hits full strength bond before installing the mirror.
And ya ... mine fell off a few years back and nary a problem since.

Hahaha I love that word 'nary'. Reminds of the Andy Griffith show for whatever reason.

Andy Taylor: Now what if it was to get out that we had a eighty-seven-year-old feud a-goin' on here with nary a killin' to show for it? Why, we'd be the laughingstock of the state.Haha, yeah, they used it a good bit...

AnnnDY!! Had a lady come in the store a couple months ago when her mirror fell off. She went through 3 glue kits before she got it right. I tried to explain to her how it worked before the second application. She ended up driving away while her husband held the mirror in place...

I saw him say it and expected you to comment on it hahaha. Just make sure you glued the tab on the right direction, because the only way to get it off if you don't is lots of heat. It's not a fun experience haha.

I've lost count of the number of mirrors I've glued back over the years with pretty good success. I think I've had to do it at least once to just about every GM car I've ever owned, with the exception of the Impala I have now, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time before that one gives way, too. I can vouch for the wiring being the same on all of the Classics. My '95 Aurora has a mirror from a '99 model, thanks to XJSman89's generosity a few years back. It was an easy and worthwhile project to add the compass mirror. It boggles my mind that Oldsmobile didn't offer that feature on the '95 Aurora when it had been available on lesser models like the Eighty-Eight and Silhouette for several years. The same mirror was also used on a variety of full size Buicks, Oldsmobiles and Cadillacs from that era so they're pretty easy to find, not to mention cheap to acquire, at just about any boneyard.

NAPA has an excellent rear view mirror mount glue. I used that when I installed the OnStar FMV mirror in my 2001 back in 2011.
