Another case of the flashing lights/multi-fuction switch. However, it finally quit on its own and now I don't have any dash lights or tail lights (turn signal, break lights still work). Did something else also fail or is it still just the switch? Thoughts? (Fuses are good).

I'd investigate the LCM, its the little box under the steering wheel to the left side. Think it might have a purple label on it, or at least be next to the box that does. Not much you can do with that besides replacing it though. I'd still give cleaning the switch a try aurorah.proboards.com/thread/23492?page=1 if you haven't already.

Try cleaning the switch again first as RCA mentions. If it does not work you can probe around with DMM and a jumper and see if the LCM is functional. You can open it up and check the relay contacts and clean them off.

This is kind of a coincidence, Yesterday I was driving my 99 and had a intermittent buzzing sound coming from the dash area and the instrument panel lights were flickering. When the light switch was turned on manually the buzzing stopped. It sounded like a fluttering relay. I changed the LCM and so far everything is OK . We shall soon see if that holds. I am glad that I have scarfed a good supply of these modules/ computers, see photo. It makes the trouble shooting a easier task. RCA Is correct , the LCM is the one with the purple label. I think the turn signal stalk is no longer available. Rich

I went and got an LCM module at the junk yard today for $100 (also included the multi-function switch - rough shape). Started by changing the LCM first which fixed the dash lights and tail lights. I then cleaned the the existing MF switch and put it all back together. One thing I did was drill some holes in the plastic case that holds the LCM board so it would have a little air flow. Not sure that will do anything or not but I thought maybe some of these issues are a result of the LCM over heating. I seem to remember that both my 99 and now 98 both started having this issue when the car was very hot (summer time). Thanks for the responses.

I sold my one to my friend then bought it back off him cuz the alternator went so I had my mechanic fix that then my friend drove away and there was no turn signals. The mf switch was cleaned from what I read in threads in the past. Turned out she needed a turn signal switch. Its one piece and couldn't be taken apart so got the whole stick and all together. It was burnt out and I still get electrical smells from time to time lol...just so everyone knows that switch is a discontinued part so have to pickup 95-99 somewhere if need be.

Best "fix", once you get it fixed, is to remember to cycle the headlight switch every now and then. I didn't even know I HAD one till my lights got haunted ...
Anyway, following my own advice, been several years now since I cleaned the switch, and no problems since.
