Attached to and right under the front hood, there is insulation, covered in cloth. I guess it's to muffle the sound and keep things quiet, or maybe to keep in heat ? My Problem- squirrels were trying to build a nest under the front hood. In doing so they chewed the black cloth away from the insulation-looks really bad. Can I just buy some black cloth-"Nomex Cloth" and glue or staple the cloth to the yellow insulation if I glue it, will the engine heat break down the adhesive or would staples "hold" or do I have to order a new piece of insulation with the cloth attached to it Insulation is intact and not chewed up Any suggestions would be appreciated BTW-Nomex Cloth is fire and heat retardant used in Fireman's Coats.

I believe it's meant to muffle engine sound and possibly contain engine fires (not sure on that one). I've been running without mine for around 5 years now with no noticeable difference in anything (no fires either )If you're going to attempt to put cloth over the existing material I'd find a high heat adhesive product, or possibly just try to pin it up tight with the existing clips. Alternate suggestion is to go the salvage yard and try and find one in better shape. If I were you though, I'd just take it off.

Yes your likely right RCA- I think trying to go with the existing clips is the answer, but the cloth also wraps around the sides of the insulation, and there's no clips etc. Maybe a high heat adhesive is the way to go !!! - thanks for you feedback.

Yeah I would replace it with one from salvage yard Aurora or just remove it altogether. I am pretty sure it was ruled it was for noise insulation and a fire retardant.
