I've got a 97 i just bought as a reclamation project, to try and flip it. Make a few bucks. I always liked these cars.
After replacing the AC compressor, and a few odds and ends, i kind of want to keep it and make it the ultimate Hooning car. I think this platform begs for someone to do it.
Its an all stock 97 with autobahn, roughly 150,000 miles.
My ideas are:
-Electric cutout -Westers Tune (is it worth it? seat of the pants improvement?) - 17 inch wheels maybe, or just leave the stock granny ones on there for a great sleeper.
Any other suggestions for cheap power? I am not gonna do a motor swap, or turbo, etc. Just fun stuff.

I had to google "hooning" real quick haha. I've never gotten a performance tune but I honestly don't know if you would notice a MASSIVE improvement, sure you might notice some difference though. The cutout I think would be worth it, these cars sound pretty good uncapped (insert shameless self promotion). You could always go with 17" alloy wheels from the 2001+ Aurora's. That way you get a change but not something that would draw TOO much attention, keep your sleeper appeal. Really not much to go by for power, 4.6 engines are cheap from the salvage yard but they're a gamble (pulled heads) and I know you didn't want to go that route. You could try Nitrous, I know at least one person on here did it although I'd be wary with the cars age and tendency to pull head bolts.

I better provide a caveat; I'm a 32 year old father of 4. Business owner, good member of society, volunteer etc. I have 8 vehicles including the Olds. I'm not a Hoonigan... although sometimes it can be fun in a controlled setting (track, auto x)
I bought the Olds as a flip, but I'm kind of into now lol. I like the process of the build. Never put together a "Hoonmobile"

Straight pipes might be a bit ... excessive ... for the Sunday morning ride to church. <G>
I stayed a bit more conservative and just went with replacement mufflers ... FlowPro Classics. Not much louder when just driving about, but they open up nicely when you hit it ... er ... hoon it?

Well, he'd have the cutout. Loud when he wants it, quiet when he doesn't

Well, he'd have the cutout. Loud when he wants it, quiet when he doesn't Ya that's my thoughts too. A New development, I think my FPR is shot, so I've got one coming from rockauto. Was reading about the Westers tune, the claims are that 1/4 time drops .7!!! That would put the old girl right there with LT1 Camaros. That's hilarious to me.

IDK, think the PCM and injectors could keep up with a dry N2O 50 shot?
