HVAC blower quit working. Removed Blower and it moves freely and hooked to 12V runs great. Removed the Blower resister and wonder if there is way to test it before ordering a new one.
Fuses all ok. Has been increasingly sporadic over last year till this week when it appears to have completely stopped running. Any other suggestions to check?

What symptoms were you having before it quit completely?

blower would not come on initially for either heat or AC- sometimes would just start while driving and run for awhile then stop again. Played with the fan button last week for a few minutes - it started up - ran for maybe 2 minutes then went off again- could not get it to restart.
Blower itself works great hooked to 12v - when hook back to car obviously is not getting juice to it. The plugs on hookup to resister look clean and normal. Was pretty sure not fuse since it was intermittent . They checked good. Appears the resister is around $150 and if problem not big deal getting one - but hate to buy parts and find out they are not needed - any way to check the resister when out?

It's hard to say. I'm not certain how you could test it other than looking for an open circuit with a multimeter. If you do go the route of the resistor you might want to check eBay or a salvage yard for a used one and see if that solves the problem. I'd venture to guess it'd be a lot cheaper that way.

Found this link through google. I don't know if it will help, not knowing the specs of the Aurora's resistor. www.freeasestudyguides.com/blower-motor-resistor.htmlMight be at least worth trying. For what it's worth I would guess that it is the resistor causing the problem as well, but it could just as easily be a faulty climate control unit. That would be a definite salvage yard part.

There is not actually a resistor IRRC. It is just a transistor that gets a PWM signal from the hvac programmer.

Is the transistor available and replaceable?

Guess I can answer my own question - takes a little work to open up this assembly - 6 screws and some sealant to cut. A little umph to separate and their it is ! Small board and easy access to transistor which I found on eBay for $6 ppd- worth the try as opposed to $100- $180 online/

The BCM was first part I replaced on my Classic. There was one readily available at the yard so I never bothered tinkering with it.
What is the part number on the transistor and how does it connect to the PCB? I see the two mounting bolts. Are you able to get macro shots?

Motorola SJ41042- found it online from $6 ppd to $40- looks to be an older IC that is hard to find -

Thanks Rob and Sall - IC @ $6 comes ppd from China and takes 3 weeks- stopped at local junkyard going out of business and he had one Aurora. Everything U-Pull.
Car was full of flywheels ! took a while to get to it. Charged me $10 - plugged it in and have fan blower that I think I have not had since I bought car 9 years ago! Had changed blower once 6 years ago but still never had hard blower. Been intermittent since. Now I can cool off an hopefully have heat this winter
Thanks again Andy

I just logged on to the forum to do a quick search for "blower not working" and I found this post! Mine went out last evening after doing the same things as the OP.
Where exactly is the part located? I can run to U-pull-it this weekend and try to find one to replace mine.

the link sall shows was big help - almost impossible to remove without dropping the fan first. Then it is to left on the console side all the way to the firewall . Two small bolts- suggest having an extension on your ratchet. Also removing the rear connectors to the resister is tough to free . Slides out easy with a couple pulls. Check the connections both on plug and resister to make sure they are not corroded - may be the problem. Mine were clean but still hit them with finger nail file. It is easy to check every thing when removed by simply sitting blower on carpet facing up and starting car to see if cleaning helped or if replacement resister is good before you reinstall Good luck - think mine had been bad from start when I bought car- blows harder than anytime since I bought it
