Hey. So when I got my 2001 Aurora with the 3.5l V6, I did an inspection and found that the spare was in HORRIBLE condition. Chunks of the tread were missing and you could see cords.
Not even going to consider using that if it ever came to it, so I took the tire off the rim. However, I would like to maintain a spare, because a full size spare I currently keep, doesnt leave me with much trunk room.
Does anyone know where to buy a new spare tire? I find it hard to find Temporary tires online and wanted to know if there is a way to get it.

Mine did the same thing, dry rot. I just went to the junkyard and picked up one out of a Cadillac, 10 bucks, haha!

Unfortunately the nearest salvage yard is an hour away. Is there a way to know which cadillacs have the spare so I don't go there or I can figure out before I go?

It doesn't have to be from a Caddy, just has to have a 5X115 lug pattern, 16" wheel for the spare. So, pretty much any GM sedan from the mid 90s to the mid 00s will do, lol!
Cadillacs usually have aluminum compact spares though...

Well I know a vehicle such as a grand am has a 15 inch rim that will NOT fit the the brakes. And I want to be able to store the spare with the little tray for the jack, so it has to be the same rim. Could I find any 16 inch spare and put it on the rim so it fits the cubby?

I had the same issue, it was really bad !!!! You must get an identical spare doughnut at the salvage yard. If you get the wrong one it may not fit in the trunk space properly. It may not let the cover go down all the way. I had this happen to me a month ago.

I took the spare tire and jack out of my 1998 Olds Aurora before I donated the car to charity. The tire looks pretty good. Seems kind of heavy to ship anywhere. I live in Richmond,Va

I actually got super lucky. I randomly bid on an auction with 15 spare tires. I won the bid for 12 bucks. One of the tires is the EXACT same size and is newer (2005). Only difference is its not a 3000 mile, get home on tire. Its a bias supply that probably follows the don't drive over 55mph, stay under 50 miles tire. Its never been used. I put it on my rim and now im good to go.

So even though my Aurora is now sitting and I stole her LED taillights for my buick park Avenue, I noticed my park avenue has the same rim, tire, jack, and even jack tray as my 2g Aurora. Thought to mention this so people have more idea what junkyard vehicles might help them out. This way the tires would fit in that snug well. I am actually putting my spare in the buick because the tire is 10 years newer and my jack isn't bent and broken(dont wanna die if I get a flat)

It's a bigger spare because it has to fit over the larger brakes. I have the GXP brakes on my car and the stock spare will not fit over the brakes.

Does it fit in the spare wheel well?

I'm not sure. I run 20s on my aurora with a 20 as a spare. I have it sitting around. I'll test for it this weekend.

I have a spare from an 01 4.0 17” that I just pulled out of my car Id be willing to let go of. Going to be swapping to some custom wheels here in the next month or so.
