Anyone ever get their 2G center console leather rewrapped? I'm talking about the bottom leather wrapped section, that the console lid and shifter wood grain section sit on top of? My leather is getting a little worn on the top edges where the woodgrain snaps into, from all the years of removing it and putting it back in.
My question is, is it an easy task, breaking it down? I haven't removed everything to take a look, but I think if I remember correctly, I would need to remove the entire shifter as well? Is that right? I thought bolts run through underneath it? I hope this isn't the case... And how do you find out what kind of leather it is to get an exact match? Are their GM leather codes for each section of the car?
I'm trying to see if I can do this myself, rather than get a shop to do it. I think wrapping it would be simple with a high quality adhesive glue and stretching it around it, then stapling it on the inside with adhesive just like factory.
Any insight will be helpful.

If you know how to remove the center console, which isn't that difficult by the way, it'll be cheaper to pull one from the salvage yards.
I just pulled one yesterday to get at the carpet in a salvage yard. That's why I was asking your area. I'm in Chicago unfortunately...

Yea i use car-parts.com, b.c my area is tapped out....b.c of me haha. And half the time its always trashed or a different color. I rather just rewrap it. I need to find that exact leather. Ill swing by an upholsterer and see if they can match it to spec.

I know this is off topic and I apologize but I'v taken apart my center console to repair the arm rest with jb weld and I cannot get the rear vent panel to come off. I looked at the diagram and it shows two sets of screws that I cannot find and its bugging me haha, I don't want to do more damage its the only thing left I have to repair there. Is there screws in the floorboard ? do the rivets have to come out? Thanks if anyone can answer this.

The screws youre referring to are on the inside of the vent itself. Left side and right side. Youll need to lay across and fit yourself between the rear seat and back side of the front seat to see them. Its a PITA.... Thats how i did it and a short handled screw driver helped.

Yea I got those two screws out of the bottom vent. It looks like two clips on the inside that need to be depressed. Its not coming off easy and I dont want to break the plastic. I'm tired of repairing broken plastic.
