What kind of motor oil and filter are you running in your 'Ra and why?
I'm currently running Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w30 and using wix filter. Heard so many bad things about other so called good filters on the market. I have been thinking of switching to Amsoil because they have a way better API rating than mobil 1. any thoughts or comments?

5W-30 Castrol GTX & PF-61E filter.....That's what worked out best over the years.

Until about a year ago, Valvoline MaxLife High Mileage 5W30 Conventional and ACDelco PF61, 3K mile OCI.
Since then, I began using the WIX 51522 because the metal cage PF61 is being phased out in favor of the plastic cage (e-core) PF61E. And I'm not gonna use that...
Why do I use what I use? Availability Affordability Reliability
In the end though, it's not the oil and filter you use. It's knowing what the oil and filter you use are designed to do...

Mobil 1 10w-30 high mileage. Been using the same stuff for almost 10 years now. AC Delco PF61E with no problems so far.
Why? I don't know, it's just what I use. I try to keep in line with an "if it ain't broke don't fix it" philosophy lol

I ran 5w at the beginning of this winter, but it seemed to increase my normal overnight oil leak so I switched back to 10w at the next change.

Is 10w harder to move in the winter?

My Aurora didn't seem to have any problems, the only difference I noticed between the two was the increase in oil needed to top off between changes with the 5w.
Owners manual (at least for the classic) prefers 10w30 down to 0 degrees, but says 5w30 is ok when the temp will fall below 60 degrees consistently before the next oil change.
I'd personally be using 0w30 in the winter if I wasn't afraid it'd leak like a sieve.

According to the 2001 owners manual, it's ok to use 10W-30 down to 0*.................

Castrol full synthetic 10W-30, using a NAPA Gold oil filter, oil change every 5,000 miles, since new. Of course my 1997 Aurora only has 49,000 miles on it. It is garage kept and covered and we only use it for trips and vacations, except when I need to run/drive it at least once every two weeks to keep the fluids run through it.

GM 10W30, GM filters, can of STP to prevent Low Oil Pressure in 95 degree weather and long idling. In winter, steady 60 PSI at idle after many miles, drops to 35 idle after full warmup.
