So I had to drop the panel under the dash to my Aurora to inspect the connection at the fan blower. When the panel came off, I discovered these from a previous owner. Kinda cool, probably worth a dollar but an interesting piece of history. The plastic tray was busted up and the penny is missing. When I dug a little deeper under the carpet, I found a half dollar that I assume would go in the middle but it has 1968 on it while the rest of the coins are from 1970. Has anyone ever heard of these sets?

Never seen or heard of those...
Kind of eerie that you found them the same week that GM shut down the Lordstown plant.

Very strange, especially the year.

They're called "proof sets". That is a collection of mint coins from a particular year, 1970 in this instance. It might be that no half dollars were minted in 1970, so that 1968 half was put in there. A complete set like that might be worth maybe about $15 now.

As is, I believe that combined, WITH the paperwork, it's worth about one dollar.
