Hi, I have had to deal with bad rust on my 2nd Gen Aurora 4.0. I've replaced brake lines and fuel lines. The metal fuel line from the fuel filter outlet had a leak. I replaced a length of the metal fuel line. That was the easy part. While doing that repair I disconnected the quick connect fuel line on the inlet end of the filter, and replaced the filter. There is a round seal, like an o ring, that came off with the filter. I think it belongs in the quick connect on the vehicle fuel line. Once I put it back together there was a large fuel leak at the quick connect. The quick connect (or quick disconnect) is visible in the photo above on the inlet side (black plastic fitting at fuel filter at center of photo). It looks like I really only need to replace the quick connect part and its internal seal. There are aftermarket repair parts, but I'm not sure which is the right part. How about the Dorman 800058 repair part for nylon fuel lines? It works with 3/8" fuel lines. I had the same thing happen to me. I had my car towed to a shop by my house and had them do it. A new fitting would need to be pressed on. They ended up taking the "guts" (the o rings, etc) from a new fitting and loading it in the original one. No leaks since and that was around 2-3 years ago.

oh I'm about to change the fuel filter on my car - finally warm & sunny weather here this afternoon. I'll be on the lookout for that part when-if it falls...

i ended up replacing the filter and could reuse the same seal.

Yeah, normally the quick connect should slip right off and on no problem, but sometimes the filter gets so corroded it takes parts of the fitting with it. The next time I do mine I'm spraying the connections down with Penetrating fluid in the days before.

The next time I do mine I'm spraying the connections down with Penetrating fluid in the days before. Bold of you to assume the rust belt would let you have an easy fuel filter job!

The next time I do mine I'm spraying the connections down with Penetrating fluid in the days before. Bold of you to assume the rust belt would let you have an easy fuel filter job! Haha, this was I think the 3rd or 4th time I changed it (I do it every 2-3 years) and I had never had a problem before that.

Occasional unmating and remating of the seal and the fuel filter inlet might help a little. Also the filter itself never gets a chance to rust.
