Has anyone come across, "Spprecision.com?" They make performance 4t80e transmissions and for a really great price IMO. check it out: spprecision.com/products/4t80e-transmission-sale.htmlIf I am ever to get my transmission rebuilt, I will without a doubt go this route. Just purchase the tranny with all updated parts/hardened parts etc... Then have them ship it to your transmission shop of choice for a $400-$500 install. Well worth it in my book! Thought I'd share

did 3.5 have same trans? if so, this is a god send. The trans was the weakpoint of my old aurora for sure... and being so many other fast gm cars were using it, its support is there. and the price is so good, less than a motor

Unfortunately, the V6 had to deal with a 4T65-E

The 4t65e wasn't a bad transmission. The 3.5 V6 isn't as powerful as the 3800 series II or III V6. I believe the 3800 was torquier! My 08' grand prix had mods and the tranny was great all the up til 160,000 miles until i sold it.
Aurora girl. I owned a 98' Buick Regal GS. It came factory supercharged. 240hp/280 torque. It went well into the 12's with modifications. From 43,000 miles when I bought it, to 103,000 miles and racing it all the time. The only thing that snapped was the input shaft. But again the Regal was a 3800 V6 supercharged engine (L67), that I ran a 12.43@105mph with.
I was unaware the 3.5L Aurora used the 4t65e transmission, in that case, look about getting the "4t65e-HD" transmission the supercharged cars used. That's the one in the REGAL GS, IMPALA SS, MONTE SS, GRAND PRIX GTP. It's good up til 400hp. And no 3.5L is making that. When I rebuilt the transmission for my regal, I got a hardened input shaft, race clutches, performance LSD, shift kit etc....so there are better parts for it if desired, but a factory 4t65e-HD should be fine. A junkyard one under 100k, replace the fluid and put some Lucas no slip in there and you're golden!

Wow that's awesome. Yea I was on the RegalGS.org forums back in the day. Loved that car!!! Then a drunk driver smashed into me and totalled it. But the car saved my life. I ended up getting settlement money and refurbished an 86' Buick T- Type and it was gorgeous. While simultaneously convincing my dad to purchase a 2002 Buick Park Avenue Ultra and I secretly modded. He was wondering why it was so fast lol. After my C6 Corvette I got this Oldsmobile Aurora and love it! But the Buicks etc...those engines. Amazing power plants! Wish GM never got rid of them. However the new 4cyl turbo's in the 2011 Regal GS i owned briefly. Are pretty responsive and trifecta tuning for 500 bucks can make almost 100hp. It's amazing what turbo can allow. But anyways, yea if the 3.5 V6 has the 4t65e. Jist snatch up the HD version then. It'll bolt right up. You can probably find em cheap at a junkyard with around 50,000 or so miles.

I am not sure why but same 4T65E transmission with 3.8 engine for 97 98 99 year had no issues. My intrigue with 3.8l had 180k till it got totaled by some teen. friend had Buick regal with it . but my 3.5 intrigue and 3.5 aurora all started to have issues before 100k.

They can bolt up.. but how you gonna make em communicate?i could see issues with the computers. Also, you are gonna need new wheel bearings in the front and verify clearance for the driveshafts... significantly bigger splines, not sure if the cv or boots are bigger
