Yay! Happy to start using this build thread thingie!
I'll first start by posting a recap of everything done on my car so far, then, as I go along, all the things that I will do to maintain & make this car evolve.

I have bought a ton of parts last winter... now installing them slowly. New water pump, new hoses, new overflow tank, and new clamps...: Refiled with DexCool, should be good now. Some detailing/paint touches under the hood, since I had several parts removed and more room to move, and installed a 2006 Buick Lucerne cut-up airbox to house the computer. (yeah, I need to paint the underside of that hood)

And then, the car needed new rear calipers. They were partially stuck. Figured out it was starting to be an issue last fall when I replaced the pads: screwing the cylinder back in place was very difficult, stuck in corrosion. Driving the car with semi-seized calipers made me go through a set of pads in 6000km on one side, not to mention the intermittent vibrations. Now gone for good. I use 2002 Seville calipers, pads, disks (oversize). Works very well, including the parking brake. But I hate the parking brake pedal. I hate it. Can't use it for anything else than parking. Thinking of installing a custom lever. Will see. Also, the 2002 Seville calipers come with an electric wear indicator -- basically a wire that gets cut as the pad wears thin. Installed them, not hooked to anything for now. Another project in the works...

Smallish steps. Baby steps. Major difference. Going from this: To this: Can you believe the replacement grille was beige? Just happened to find the right color for cloth/vinyl at Canadian Tire by sheer luck. Keeping that spray can preciously for future needs

Its coming along man, keep it up! It takes time and can only do so much. Also did you have to sand or anything to paint your air vents? So is this is your daily?

Used that product and it does not require any sanding. Holds up pretty good, used it on another project as well a few years back and stays nice and unscratched.

It's a small world; my passenger air vent is missing a vane too! Same colour as yours. What was the name of the colour on the can? Or part number? Thanks, Greg

The front wheel hubs (or one of them) have started whining again. 25,000 km only on them, brand new expansive GM ones... but whatever. Bought a new set, installing them, good opportunity to paint the parts and clean stuff. Brake pads are also dead, will need to get a set too. Car is approching 255,000km. Our other car is also at 250,000 and dying. New electric car incoming soon, but the Aurora will remain as a 2nd car. Nothing can beat its ride & comfort.

New electric car incoming soon What brand? We wanted the Bolt, but back then, there was a major battery recall. Went for a Ioniq 5, 14 months waiting and counting...

Front pads & hubs/bearing done, worked great - after a short ride, the whine is gone, etc. Got some Eastwood paint, the car needs to have a new coat. The previous paint was some stuff from eBay, it faded and went dull so fast. So "Canyon Dusk Copper" it is.

So looks like one hub was DOA; the connector was ok, etc, but it rang a trouble code. Replacing it and now all is good. Will further test them with an oscilloscope to understand the signal difference between the failed one and the old one (which was still ok electrically). Also discovered a small fuel leak on the 5/16" return line, .... now patched. This is not a build thread, this is a patch thread

What color?

It will remain copper. The previous paint was bought from eBay, it turned dull in a couple of years. This one will be better!
