Hi, all... It's been a while. Hope the online family is doing well. Despite my searches, I could not find anything about my issue / question either on this forum on with a Google search.
I have a 1996 Aurora with a bad master cylinder and a leaking power brake booster. The car is in pretty bad shape, so I don't want to put much $$ into it.
The 96's master cylinder is used on a few models of that era, with the newest being 1999 Aurora and Riviera, but can buy a brand new one with reservoir for about $10 more than a used one, so that is not an issue.
With regard the power brake booster, the interchange number, online search (car-part, rock auto, etc.) show this booster only being used on 95 and 96 Auroras and Rivieras. The '97 and newer Aurora uses a different booster than the '96 (but remember, the master cylinder is the same for 95-99), which is used on many newer GM cars, up through and including a few 2008 models.
I don't have the budget to buy a new or reman booster, and I am reeeeel hesitant to spend about $50 for a 24 year old booster (with the donor car usually being 200,000 miles or more) for fear of it having or soon developing an air leak.
Sooooooo.... has anyone here tried putting in a booster from a newer aurora or other model into a 95 or 96 Aurora or Riviera? If yes, was it successful? Problems encountered? Tips?
Or does any have any helpful thoughts?
Thanks much, David

i think any booster differences would correlate to your RPO for brakes and such. Do you have JL5 or J55 on your RPO sticker under your spare tire cover?
Also, do you have an ABS module on the subframe by the airbox down low or is it up on the firewall NEXT To the master cylinder?

Traction, ABS on my 99 is a module on the frame. The same year park avenue uses a different ABS module and the same year riviera uses the same one. Same subframe between all 3. But if you have tcs but not ABS or just ABS or none, it could be different i think
