Well, the time has come to downsize my fleet. I'll be moving out of the country next month for a couple of years and I don't want to leave too many cars to sit and rot, so I'm only going to hang onto a few.
The first car to go is my white 02 Aurora 4.0. Body is solid, welded patches at the rear strut mounts will outlast anything, and the front subframe was replaced with a clean one 3 yrs ago. However, it's got a mild head gasket leak, manifested by excess pressure in the cooling system after 30 min or so of driving. And some of the damn chrome wheels refuse to hold air, despite multiple attempts to grind and seal the rims. It's also got a bad TCC solenoid, so no TCC lockup. And the interior is rough (headliner is shot, broken C pillar trim, etc.). In that kind of condition with 142k miles I think it might be worth more in parts than it is as a whole. I do hate to get rid of it, because it looks damn good and the exhaust sound is amazing (deleted mufflers). Anyone have any suggestions on how to best dispose of it without causing loss to the fading Aurora community? Anyone want to buy it for parts? Or have requests for parts?
As for the other cars, unfortunately I'm going to sell my SS (which is a real unicorn) because it's worth way too much to sit on it; sell the Audi (it's an 8 year old German car, which scares the hell out of me from a what could go wrong perspective and it'll only plummet further in value); I also should get rid of the Intrigue, though I find it hard to part with (my first car and I've had it 15 yrs, but undercarriage rust has become its sworn enemy). That leaves me with the 02 V6 Aurora (from Arizona, so no rust), the F500 Aurora (from Florida, also no rust), the Impala (which is a crapshoot, but I've had most of the rusty undercarriage patched), and the Yukon (which will likely have holes in the frame and bumpers in 2 yrs). Yikes.
